It is my great pleasure to recommend Laura Kelly for consideration as a Secondary
Spanish or Math Teacher. Laura was my intern for the Fall of 2016 at Eastern High
School, in Lansing, Michigan. Eastern High School is a very racially, ethnically,
and socioeconomically diverse school. Laura taught Spanish 2 in my classroom to
students in grades 9-12. She developed an excellent rapport with all of her classes
and her strength in teaching developed and grew continuously during her time in
my classroom. She epitomized professionalism, created interesting and valuable
lessons that engaged students, and executed all of her professional responsibilities
with dedication and excellence. Laura mastered the use of Synergy, the attendance
and gradebook management software that is used at our high school and frequently
attended professional development activities on PD days. She regularly interacted
with colleagues at lunchtime, where conversations about best practices and
professional growth would occur. Laura was well liked by students and staff and I
consider Laura to be an asset to whomever she chooses to work for. Lauras
greatest strengths are in her creativity, her passion for student learning, and her
desire to collaborate with other professionals to improve her practice. I am proud
to have been Lauras cooperating teacher and know that she will be a strong and
effective teacher in any school that she works at.
