To whom it may concern:

I am excited and interested in applying for a teaching position in the areas of Spanish and
mathematics at the secondary school level in your school district. I am currently a senior at Alma
College and completing my teacher internship at Lansing Eastern High School in Algebra 2 and
Spanish 2. I am in the final process of completing my requirements for the Michigan Secondary
Provisional Certification.
Throughout my classroom experiences during my time as an Alma College student, I have had
extensive hands-on practice in the classroom with developing lesson and unit plans, classroom
management, professional development, as well as building skills to work with students from a
variety of ethnic, socioeconomic, and learning backgrounds. At my current location in Lansing I
have been able to work with a much more diverse student body than I previously had the chance.
I have also been given many wonderful professional development opportunities to enhance my
teaching skills, such as an introduction to the Reading Apprenticeship program.
Outside of the classroom I have also been a middle school cross country and track & field coach.
This has allowed me to forge deeper relationships with young people while learning more about
the needs of this age group. I have found that my personality meshes well with this age group,
and that I am able to provide a positive leadership role in the lives of these young people. I
believe that making positive connections with young people is key to encouraging growth and
learning in any area of their lives.
