Interview Show
Category: Listening and Speaking
Description:
Imagine you are a successful TV host like Oprah, Ellen, or Jimmy Fallon. You
will write up and perform an interview with a character(s) from the
novel. Prepare questions to give to a character in the novel. You can audio
record yourself as both the interviewer and the character, or you may video
record you and a partner performing the interview. Your questions must
be clear, detailed, and deep. Dont simply ask, Whats your name? or,
How are you? Instead, ask deeper questions that have to make you think
deep about how the character would respond. Write a script before you film
and make sure you answer each question how you feel the character would
answer them-be honest and be true to the character. Make sure that
your interview demonstrates and comments on your novels worldview.
Outcomes:
General Outcome 2: Students will listen, speak, read, write, view and represent to

Create a Soundtrack

Create a soundtrack for your novel, as if it were going to be made into a
movie. YOU are the musical director! Your job is to present your soundtrack
to the movie producer. You must explain why you chose each song and

10 songs, with one at the opening of the novel, one at the ending of
the novel, a theme song for your character, and one for each of the
major plot points in the novel. You must play clips of these songs and
analyze them. You will also have to analyze the songs you chose and provide

novel? How do these songs represent the worldview? You will record
your presentation to the director on an iPad or robust device.

minimum of 4 arguments for each side (minimum of 8 arguments total=4
YES Circle Justice and 4 NO Circle Justice) with an explanation for each

prove them guilty/innocent. You must have two sides to your trial: a side
DEFENDING the characters action, and an opposing side that
DISAGREES with the characters actions. You are required to script your trial
and have your main arguments written out. Have a detailed plan for how
you want your trial to happen and practice your main arguments. Remember:
One of you will DEFEND the character and the other will DISAGREE with the
character-you must use FACTS to support your side! Go back in the novel
and find quotes and evidence to support your chosen sides
argument. Film or record your trial.

Town Speech
Category: Listening and Speaking
Description:
You will create and present a speech about important themes and life
lessons from your novel. At town hall meetings, people from the
community get together to discuss important issues and events that affect

communities because they allow people to gather and share information that
impacts their daily lives. Your job is to lead the town meeting and give a
speech. Your speech will be about the important themes and life lessons
from your novel. For example, if you read Touching Spirit Bear, then your
town hall meeting may take place in Minneapolis, where Cole is from, and
you might give a speech about Circle Justice, how it helped Cole, and the
benefits of it to society. You might also give a speech about the at.oow, the
