RCA 3G Traffic Degradation on sites

5810 and 6869

Issue Observed:
15 MHz upgradation activity was planned for Jhang, Rabwa and Chiniot sites on 29 th
of November in maintenance window of (00hrs to 0600 hrs.). Activity was
successfully completed at 4G end.
In day time monitoring, 3G RNO observed degradation in traffic on sites 5810 and
6869 since maintenance window time. There was no apparent reason of this
degradation on 3G cells. One common thing was the timings of degradation window
which was mapping with 15 MHz upgradation activity time.

Analysis/Root cause:
With the consent of our experts we have learned that during 15 MHz activity,
multimode sites import license for upgradation. If during this upgradation, due to
any delay in transmission, license is not imported completely, it may cause adjacent
services disturbed. This is very rare case as in normal practice this doesnt happen.
This is first time we have observed such scenario in Central during 15 MHz
upgradation activity. Issue was resolved after re initializing sites.

Solution and Pre Cautions:

If any such case is observed, we can reinitiate affected sites and KPIs will be normal.
As a precaution, we suggest to monitor 3G traffic stats also for all upcoming 15 MHz
upgradation activities in region. This will help us to capture issues timely.
