WEEKLY UPDATE ON COTTON CROP

DOMESTIC COTTON CROP SCENARIO
Better yields of cotton are being harvested both in Punjab & Sindh. Although there was severe pest
attack yet the crop is doing well. In Punjab cotton crop was sown on an area of 44 lac acres as against 54 lac
acres in 2015. Yet the arrivals are 5.4 million bales as on 15 th Nov 2016 as compared to 4.6 million bales on
15th Nov 2015. Arrivals are also better in Sindh as compare to last year. Price has also sustained during the
season of cotton crop 2016. As the average prices of seed cotton remained above Rs. 3000. Better price trend
of cotton crop this year will increase cotton area in 2017.
Seed cotton prices remained between Rs. 2400 to Rs. 3200 per 40 kg in Sindh and Rs. 3100 to
Rs. 3400 per 40 kg in Punjab. Lint prices are also at par with international prices and remained between
Rs. 5500 to Rs. 6450 per 40 kg in Sindh and Rs. 6430 to Rs. 6650 per 40 kg in Punjab.
