MR IMAGING OF L.S. SPINE PERFORMED USING T1W AND T2W SAGITTAL IMAGES OBTAINED ON A DEDICATED PHASED ARRAY SURFACE SPINE COIL AND CORRELATED WITH T1W AND T2W AXIAL IMAGES. FINDING: Lumbar lordosis is maintained. Vertebral bodies however appear normal in height and alignment. Posterior spinal elements appear normal. No focal lesion is seen. Broad based posterior and foraminal disc bulge is seen at L4/5 level causing thecal sac indentation and subtle compression on bilateral exi nerve roots with no significant central canal or neural foraminal stenosis. Rest of the intervertebral disk spaces are however normal in height and signal intensity. Neural foramina are adequately capacious at all other levels and there is no overt traversing or exiting nerve root impingement at any other level. Visualized distal cord and conus medullaris regions grossly appear normal in MR morphology. Pre and paravertebral soft tissues appear normal. Clinical correlation is suggested. DR.
