Self-Reflective for Exploratory Essay

I chose my topic for this essay by thinking about societal issues that are important to me.
I carefully selected one that was particularly meaningful and interesting for me, that I wanted to
learn more about. I explored many articles and chose three to use in my paper that had
interesting information and viewpoints. I used these to write my paper and analyzed the issue. I
synthesized the information from the articles to establish what I had learned about the topic.
After peer review, I realized that there had been a few points in the essay outline that I had not
covered in the essay. When I revised I included this information. I also fixed grammar mistakes
and added quotes to support my claims.
I feel that the strongest part of my essay was my analysis of the third article. It was better
put together than the other two and had a stronger claim. This paragraph strengthened my
overall paper.
I think the weakest part of my essay was the conclusion. It did not flow well and didnt
quite say what I wanted it to. If I had more time, I would spend it fixing this paragraph. It was
not very well written and I dont like the way it went together.
This paper helped me learn more about how to analyze and synthesize information to
come to a well-established and supported conclusion on a topic. I wasnt sure exactly how to do
that before, and now I have that background as a writer for any future essays I may need to write.

I also learned how to add the additional information to analyses that I was missing in my last
paper. This will help me overall in any research based essays I need to complete in the future.
