Self-Reflection for Mass/Spring Project

Mass spring systems are used in everyday things like trampolines, mattresses, and

vehicle shocks. The amplitude and period are necessary to ensure that the product works

correctly and is as useful as it can be. This project showed me how trigonometry can be applied

to life. It showed many useful and necessary applications of what otherwise would have been

just a graph to me. I have never really felt that math had a huge impact on most peoples lives,

and this is something that actually affects everyone in one way or another, which was a huge

change in thinking for me. Mattresses and trampolines are fairly common, everyday objects that

almost everyone uses at some point in their life, and without trigonometry they would not

function as they are intended.
