Interactive SRC Book Log for:


Period:6

The goal is to read 4-10 novels of literary merit a semester. Students must choose a
school & age appropriate novel that is in their lexile range. Fall requires at least 1
novel must be a well accepted classic. Spring, 2 choices must be classics. In lieu of
a more challenging, appropriate, text, 2 additional novels of lower lexile or of
lesser literary merit can be read each semester to replace 1 required text.
Vocabulary Development List
As you come to them, list unfamiliar or unique words (along with their definitions), and/or quotes you
love, interesting word use/phrases/grammar constructions to unpack etc. Include the chapter & pg#
on which the word/phrase can be found, eg: (Ch1, pg 13)

Response to Literature
Approx -1 pg., at LEAST once a week. Enter the date and either
1) discussing at least one (or more!) Notice and Note signpost (dont use same signposts each
time) OR
2) a response of your choosing eg:

"Describe a cause-effect relationship in your book, or create a multi-flow map showing causes and

effects of one of the conflicts in your book."


"Create a bubble map to describe one or more characters in your book."
"Write about how you connect to something (or someone) in your book."
"Write a letter to a character in your book giving them your opinion about what is going on and what
they should do about it."

Contrasts and Contradictions- Ellie is judged by her friends when she has been friends with one of
the girls since kindergarten and I thought she would be the most admired.
