Please note that this guide includes both a Lab Activities section and a Lab
Solutions section (at the back). The instructions for the lab activities, though
complete, do not include as much detail as the lab solutions. We recommend
that you attempt to perform the learning activities in this guide first using the
instructions provided in the Lab Activities section. If you would like additional
details, then see the instructions in the Lab Solutions section.
Also note that the screenshots you see in this lab guide are based on the
software and firmware versions available when these course materials were
created. Please be aware that the screens you see when you perform the lab
activities may differ, if a new version has been installed on the lab hardware.
Where such differences exist, please focus on the written instructions, rather
than the printed screenshots. If the instructions are not clearly understood, ask
your instructor for assistance.

Lab Activity 2.
Storage Navigator
Overview
Objective
Upon completion of the lab project, you should be able to connect the
workstation to the SVP, and execute the Hitachi Storage Navigator program.
Summary of Activity
Complete the steps listed on the following pages to connect to the SVP using a
web browser and view the various new Storage Navigator panels.

Check your alert status icon; open the window with the Alerts
link.

Rollover the audit log icon to see audit log space utilization. Audit
Log link displays the space usage detail.

log out gracefully.

collapse or expand display areas.

trail at top. It says User Groups > Administrator Users Group.
As you drill down deeper, this hyperlinked breadcrumb trail
becomes useful as a way to return to a higher or previous level.

To install new license keys, select file and click Browse to find the
.plk file that contains the keys.

Lab Activity 3.
Performance Monitor
Overview
Objective
Upon completion of the lab project, you will track resource utilization on a short
term and long term basis as you monitor both MPs and WWNs.
Summary of Activity
Use Windows Disk Manager to create file systems on your lab host, use Iometer
to generate I/O and Monitor Performance to view I/O and other activities

1. Monitor Performance
1. To enable monitoring, go to the performance menu and select Edit
Monitoring Switch.
2. Click Enable and set the Interval to 1 minute. Then click Finish.
3. Login to the assigned host and generate Host I/O.
4. Go to Performance Monitor and select Edit WWN Monitor Mode.
5. Select the appropriate WWN on CL1-A; click Add, Finish and Apply
on the next page.
6. Select Monitor Performance
7. In the Monitor Performance Window set Short Range, Real Time,
WWN, Throughput (IOPS). In the Objects table select the WWN, Add
then Apply.
8. After 30 minutes, the graph will look as follows:
Lab Activity 4.
Overview
Objective
Upon completion of the lab project, you will be able to configure and use
Cache Logical Partitions (CLPR) in a VSP system.
Summary of Activity
Create a new CLPR and assign an internal parity group to the new CLPR.

Lab Activity
Out of Band Setup
This lab was set up on a Windows host (10.4.9.1) on the same subnet as the
SVP (10.4.9.X) in order to eliminate any issues with port blocking by firewalls,
and so on. Your actual configuration will vary depending upon your lab
configuration.
Perform the following numerated steps and the results should be as shown:
1. Create a horcm1.conf file as shown and save it in the windows folder.
