This type is equipped with a direct by water cooled stator winding (primary water) and direct hydrogen cooled rotor winding. The excittion system is of static type. An excitation transformer is used to take excitation power from the generator bus bar. ‘The Generator frame is of pressure-resistant and gas-tight construction and is equipped with endshields at each end. The stator core is stacked from insulated electrical sheet steel laminations and mounted in the stator frame over insulated guide bars. The high-voltage insulation is provided according to the proven MICALASTIC® system. The hydrogen cooler is subdivided into two doublesections and arranged inside the stator frame. The hydrogen circulates in the generator interior in a closed circuit, The generators of the series have been well tried over a period of many years and more than 35 have now been built. Due to continuous type improvements these generators have achieved a high degree of operational reliability. The model ratings of the THDF series cover the range from 480 to 1300 MVA. We would like to give the assurance that all the Siemens components, like gas turbines, steam turbines and generators, will only be buit in manufacturing facilities that operate in strict compliance with our globally applied design, manufacturing and quality assurance specifications. The offered generator is from the KWU standard range of generators and is designed in accordance with IEC 34 Generator Cooling System The stator winding is directly cooled by primary water and the rotor winding by hydrogen. ‘The heat produced in the other components as a result of losses such as iron losses, friction and stray losses is dissipated by hydrogen cooling. The heat in the core is uniformly dissipated via a large number of radial cooling slots. The hydrogen is circulated inside the gas-tight and pressure-resistant generator frame in a closed circuit. The hydrogen coolers are integrated in the generator frame. The conditioned water to coo! the stator winding (primary water) is circulated in a closed loop by a pump, with the heat rejected to the secondary water in the primary water cooler. It comprises stacks of low-loss laminations which are resistant to humidity and varnished on both sides. Axial compression is obtained by prestressed stacking beams on the core back and by nonmagnetic, through bolts. The pretensioning forces are applied via pressure plates and fingers installed at both core ends. As applying for all Siemens turbogenerators, the core does not need any maintenance or re-clamping, The requirements associated with capacitive loads on the generator are reliably met by means of highly effective magnetic shielding of the core end zones, optimum stepping of the tooth tips at the core end zones and engineered cooling Stator Winding High-quality mica, selected epoxy resins and tailored vacuum-pressure impregnation (VPI) are characteristic features of the MICALASTIC insulation system used for the stator winding, This high-quality insulation system, whose reliability is ensured by continuous in-process inspections, is the result of consistent development. The bars taped with mica film are immersed in epoxy resin under vacuum and pressed to the required size ‘As a result, MICALASTIC insulation has excellent electrical, thermal and mechanical properties. The insulation is dimensioned in accordance with heat class F (IEC 34-1), but it is not thermally loaded to more than class B. Particular attention is paid to the area of the stator end windings. Radial support is provided by a sturdy support ring manufactured from glass-fiber laminate wrapped around the stator end windings. Hardenable, flexible filler strips between the stator bars and the support ring, and between the individual bars form a solid assembly. This assembly is fastened to the bracket with the aid of segmented plates and high-strength insulation bolts. As a result, the end winding and bracket form a rigid, short-circuit-proof assembly. Rotor Shaft The rotor shaft is a vacuum-degased monoblock forging. It meets all requirements of today's state of the art in terms of forging, materials science and material testing, Rotor design is based on an in-depth analysis of the rotor flexibility and torsional criticals, of the shaft fatigue levels and the permissible number of starts to ensure that the associated requirements are met under all operating and off-normal conditions. ‘Siemens Power Generation Section: 94 # Department: S461 / B-075603 Page: = .20f 6 Bid Ref, No. ALG296 (1202) WE21 ~ Sb/ Sal SIEMENS Algerian Energy Company Projet Skikda CCPP — 2 x 18.V94.3A Rotor Winding The rotor winding comprises copper conductors containing silver and having a low oxygen content. Floating, solid, nonmagnetic end-bells accommodate the centrifugal forces acting on the rotor end windings, The high-strength austenitic end-bell metal is not susceptible to humidity or stress corrosion cracking, The slot end wedges and rotor end-bells are silver-plated to give good contact conditions, and thus act in a similar way to a damper winding, Bearings and Shaft Seals The rotor shaft is supported in end-shield bearings provided with forced oil lubrication. To prevent shaft currents, the bearing shell supports are installed on insulated pedestals in the end-shield bearing housings. This prevents adequate generator bearing grounding To prevent hydrogen leakage, shaft seals are installed in the area of the bearings. These seals are supplied with oil at a defined pressure to form a radial liquid seal on the shaft. ‘Supply Systems The hydrogen, seal oil and primary water supply systems comprise all equipment necessary for generator filing, operation, shutdown, standstill and gas purging. The systems are designed in accordance with IEC 34-3 specifying the regulations for erection and operation of hydrogen-cooled turbogenerators, and also in accordance with the recommendations made in the German VDEW guidelines on the improvement of the safety of hydrogen-cooled generators. Excitation System ‘An excitation transformer is used to take the excitation current from the auxiliary power system to the static excitation system. The rotor winding is supplied with power from the static excitation system via slip rings. The slip rings and the fan are mounted on a direct coupled shaff. A start-up frequency converter is provided for start-up of the turbine generator unit. The generator acts as a motor in the converter mode to start the turbine set without additional rotating prime mover. The converter forms part of the exciter unit. The digital voltage regulator is of two-channel design. ‘Siemens Power Generation Section 94 & Department: S461 / B-075603 Page: 306 Bid Ref, No. ALG296 (1202) WE2t Sb/ Sal SIEMENS Algerian Energy Company Projet Skikda CCPP - 2x 18.V94.3A Technical Data Generator Type THDF 108/63 Rating 469 MVA Power factor 08 Rated terminal voltage 21kV475% Rated phase current 12.894 kA Rated speed 60s" Frequency 50 Hz Cooling medium Hydrogen / primary water Type of cooling, rotor / stator direct J direct with PW Mean temperature rise (calculated) = rotor winding 37K — stator winding (coolant) 27K Cold gas temperature downstream cooler 40°C PW temperature downstream cooler 45°C Short circuit current (peak) 229 KA + 30 % Permanent short-circuit current - 3phase 20.6 kA + 15% - 2phase 32.4 kA + 15% Short-circuit ratio (saturated) 0.56 Permissible unbalanced load = continuous 8% ~ [pxt 10s Class of insulation F Rotor winding resistance at 20°C 0.0926 Ohm Generator efficiency at P.F. 08 ‘Siemens Power Generation Section: 94 Department: $461 / B-075603 Page: 4 0f6 Bic Ref No, ALG296 (1202) W621 ~ Sb / Sal SIEMENS Algerian Energy Company Projet Skikda CCPP - 2x 1S.V94.3A. 4l4-load 98.85 % 3/4-load 98.89 % 214-load 98.81% 114-load approximately 98.22 % Tolerances according to IEC 34 Number of terminals 6 Reactances: Xd" (saturated) 16.1% £15 % Xd" (saturated) 22.4% + 15% Xd (unsaturated) 216.3% + 15% Rated field current 3625 A Rated field voltage “ov Materials: Rotor winding CuAg 0.1 Stator winding E-Cu F20 Stator winding insulation Micalastic Rotor 26NICrMoV 115 Rotor end bells XBCrMnN18 18 K Reference drawings and diagrams: Generator Outline Drawing TMIP 10853.11.9 Reactive Capability Curve L0/22654/3200/Be Saturation Curves SK/22654/3200/Be Unbalanced Load-Time-Curve LK/22654/3200/Be V-Curves VK/22654/3200/Be Voltage and Frequency Deviations 2.3-8181-0003 Siemens Power Generation Section: ot & Department: S461 / B-075603 Page: Sof 6 Bid Ref. Starting Frequency Converter MBJ The gas turbine is started up via the generator with the aid of the starting frequency converter. The speed is increased to ignition speed solely by motoring operation of the generator and then by the starting gas turbine process with controlled fuel supply until the gas turbine cycle produces enough power to increase the speed further. A Starting Frequency Converter (SFC) is used to assist start-up and operates the generator in synchronous start-up as a synchronous motor. When selecting the converter, the required generator together with its excitation system is assigned to the relevant starting frequency converter. During start-up with the starting frequency converter the setpoint for the static excitation system of the generator is defined by the starting frequency converter. Power Section ‘The power section of the starting frequency converter consists of the following components: = Supply via the start-up transformer - Two fully controlled three-phase bridge connections, line-side converter and the generator-side converter = Decoupling of the line-side converter from the generator-side converter with DC link reactor in the DC link = Line-side and generator-side voltage limiter = Radial fan for heat dissipation Closed-Loop Control The line-side converter operates in rectifier operation and directs the active power taken from the power supply to the DC link. The closed-loop control consists of closed-loop speed control with lower-level closed-loop current control and a gating unit set which provides the ignition pulses required to control the converter. The generator-side converter operates as an inverter in load-controlled operation. The maximum delay angle is altered as a function of the speed and the DC link current. The current in the generator-side converter is commutated by the machine's terminal voltage. The DC link current is switched from one stator winding to the next so that a rotating field is established in the three-phase stator winding which turns the rotor synchronously. The machine voltage is not sufficient for commutation in the generator-side converter in the range from zero speed to a minimum speed. The process of DC link pulsing during which the line-side converter is briefly controlled in inverter operation causes the current in the DC link to become zero and the blocking ability of the thyristors is re-established. ‘The rotor position is determined by the induced voltages in the stator winding so that a rotor position encoder is no longer necessary. All the required data values are measured or, as is the case for the actual speed value, derived from the measured variables. This excitation equipment and the starting frequency converter must therefore be placed next to each other. The starting frequency converter always communicates with the instrumentation and control equipment in the control room via the exciter equipment provided Three different criteria symbolize faults: = Tripping: Always triggers starting frequency converter to trip in the event of faults Warning: Signals faults without interrupting operation ~ Not ready: Blocks switching on The actual values for turbine-generator speed and current in the DC link can be displayed both locally and in the control room. Operating Modes The starting frequency converter is designed for four gas turbine starts in sequence. After this, a cooling down time of at least 2 h must be observed. The starting frequency converter is designed for the following operating modes: Grid start Normal start-up at rated output up to approx. 70% rated speed, Washing! The turbine-generator unit is turned at a various speed between 23.3 to 26.7% of rated speed to clean the compressor blades. Purging Ignitable gases are flushed out of the HRSG of combined-cycle units.
