Introduction:
Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) makes it possible to supply power through an air gap,
without the need for current-carrying wires. WPT can provide power from an AC source
to compatible batteries or devices without physical connectors or wires. WPT can
recharge mobile phones and tablets, drones, cars, even transportation equipment.WPT
has been an exciting development in consumer electronics, replacing wired chargers.
The concept of transferring power without wires, however, has been around since the
late 1890s. Nikola Tesla was able to light electric bulbs wirelessly at his Colorado
Springs Lab using Electrodynamic induction WPT uses fields created by charged
particles to carry energy between transmitters and receivers over an air gap. The air
gap is bridged by converting the energy into a form that can travel through the air. The
energy is converted to an oscillating field, transmitted over the air, and then converted
into usable electrical current by a receiver. Depending on the power and distance,
energy can be effectively transferred via an electric field, a magnetic field, or
electromagnetic (EM) waves such as radio waves, microwaves, or even light.

Objectives:
At the end of this project we will be able to

Understand the wireless power transfer

Development in wireless power transfer
Matching new ideas and solution to societys needs regarding wireless power

transmission, particularly with regard to RIC.

Development of practical applications of wireless power transfer

Methodology:
To transfer power through wireless system, different methods are used e.g

Inductive coupling (IC)

Resonant inductive coupling (RIC)
Dipole coil resonant coupling (DCRC)
Micro waves radiations

For this project the adopted method is Resonant inductive coupling because it is
more efficient than the inductive coupling method. With the help of this method, power

can be transferred to maximum distance than inductive coupling. This method is less
expensive then microwave radiation method.

Resonant Inductive Coupling:

RIC is the combination of both inductive coupling and resonance. Using the concept of
resonance it makes the two objects to interact each other very strongly.

Resonance Inductive Coupling Inductance induces current in the circuit. As seen in the
figure , the coil provides the inductance. The capacitor is connected in parallel to the
coil. Energy will be shifting back and forth between magnetic field surrounding the coil
and electric field around the capacitor. Here the radiation loss will be negligible.

Flow Diagram:

Expected result:

Power can be transfer wirelessly at long distance.

Will support many devices.
Power will transfer through surfaces and hurdles.

Time duration of our project:

The expected time for the project will be around about 8 to 9 weeks. In this duration, we
will firstly acquire full knowledge regarding our project and we will buy the components
and start working on our project.

Difficulties of project:

To achieve the long distance

Support multiple devices
Power through surface
The use of highly inductive coils
High transmission and distribution loss.

Conclusion:
Its clear that resonant inductive coupling power transmission would be extremely
beneficial to society if it is implement in home and home electronics.
This technology would replace disposable batteries and cords.
Currently the project is looking for wireless power transmission in long range.

Future work:

In future the distance may enhanced between transmitter and receiving coils by using
advance and fast components.
Automatic wireless charging of mobile electronics while devices are in use.
Direct wireless power and communication interconnections at points of use in harsh
environments where it is impossible to run wires.
In near future, the world would become completely wireless.
