Audience profile

The audience that I will be targeting my thriller film opening sequence at will be
male and females aged 15-25. This is because they have a lower income so
would be in in E/D section of the demographics, however they are strong as an
audience and are a loyal fan base. Although males are the most popular
demographic of watching thriller films, the number of females who watch them is
increasing. Therefore, by aiming my film at both males and females there is a
wider target audience. These will be people of all sexualities as this is not a main
theme in my film so is appropriate for any sexuality.
The certificate will be a 15 like many other thriller films. It means that my target
audience will be able to watch it. It also means that I can still include elements
of thrillers that would not be possible if it was any lower than a 15. Therefore, it
will be a better psychological thriller.
It will be aimed at people who are unemployed or earn minimum wage/ middle
class. This is because it is the category that I fall under so can relate to the
target audience. This means that it will be easier for me to aim it at the target
audience. These people would have completed/be completing secondary
education so the film will be aimed at people of this level. The audience will be
aspirers and explorers, this is because it is what younger people and students
tend to be. Therefore, by aiming my film at these groups in the psychographics
it will be appropriate for my target audience.
