Logan, District Clerk (@31) 687-6899 FAX December 2016 RE: Participation in Government and Economics Semester Courses Dear Parent/Guardian/Student: Please be advised that any student who fails Participation in Govemment and/or Economics, which are both half-year courses (Fall Semester), will not be re-programmed to take these courses over in the day program for the second semester (Spring Semester). As one option, our district will offer these two classes in our after school Extended Day Program (E.D.P.) on Monday through Thursday from 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm. We will offer buses for those that are eligible for transportation at 4:00 pm, Please be advised that these courses are required to satisfy both their Social Studies and high school graduation requirements, Not taking these failed course(s) in E.D.P. will result in your child not being able to walk for graduation in June 2017. ‘The second option is to retake these courses during summer school 2017 and lastly, the third option is to take these courses during the next school year (2017-2018). We are sending this letter to encourage your child to work hard to pass these courses. We are also sending this letter as a means of working together among parents, students, and our high school, so that all students are successful. Additionally, our teachers offer extra help three times a week to assist students and we encourage them to take advantage of this smaller learning environment between now and February.
