Programs & Calendar

YLCC offers a variety of programs for campers in Kindergarten to Grade 12.

We offer both Day Camps and Residential Camps for campers to participate
in. Each program is counseled by our highly trained staff.
Through our unique leadership curriculum we challenge campers to push
their limits to learn more about leadership and themselves. The programs
work progressively allowing campers to return each year to gain a deeper
understanding of their leadership style and discover more about themselves.
All programs are designed to be world class and help campers discover their
true potential.

Voyageur

Voyageur Day Camp

Young campers and their families can prepare for a future of residential
camp, one step at a time!
The Voyageurs Day Camp is designed to spark, in youngsters, a love for
the outdoors and provide an opportunity to build self-confidence. YLCC day
campers have a chance to experience canoeing, swimming, archery, arts and
crafts, nature hikes and rock climbing in a supportive and safe
outdoor environment.
Our day campers are exposed to the basic concepts of leadership through an
introduction to decision-making and problem-solving activities.

New Horizons
New Horizion

The New Horizons program allows campers to get a taste of residential

camp life. Campers will spend three nights and four days at camp, learning
how much fun it is to be a residential camper and will be exposed to basic
concepts of leadership through play!
Campers will experience our high ropes course, crafts, waterfront activities
and archery in a supportive environment while learning basic leadership
skills and gaining the confidence to be a residential camper!

Leadership Discovery Level One

Alpha Discovery 1

Discovery Level One introduces leadership ideas through the value of play!
Discovery campers are provided with the perfect atmosphere to begin laying
the foundations of leadership. They will learn the values of teamwork,

responsibility and communication. In a safe and supportive environment,

young campers will begin the process of self-discovery.

Leadership Discovery Level Two

Alpha Discovery 2

Discovery Level Two focuses on helping campers realize the unique skills
they have to offer. Campers will gain an enthusiasm for leadership and raise
their self awareness through journalling and traditional camp activities like
boating, high ropes, and crafts! Campers will gain the knowledge of how
important it is to be confident in themselves in order to reach their own goals
and help others reach their goals as well!

Alpha Junior
Alpha Junior

Through kayaking, team survivor challenges, high ropes, and archery, our
Junior campers build self-esteem, confidence, and enthusiasm for
leadership!
The Junior program offers goal setting, journaling habits, peer mentoring,
insight into peer pressure, responsible decision-making, and development of
each campers leadership style. This program is an excellent way to prepare
for high school. (The Initiative Explorer program is a natural follow-up to
Alpha Junior.)

Thank you for the best summer I have experienced to date. YLCC taught me
how to embrace my values and to express opinions. The entire camp and
amazing staff believed in me achieving any goal I were to set.

Thank you Stu and Ornj and the AMAZING counsellors and staff for making
the past two weeks amazing for Noah. He sobbed when we left, and cant wait
to return. He showed me his journal and we compared it to last years - what a
difference a year makes.

Initiative Explorer

Initiative Explorer

The Explorer program is designed to train young people to work as a team.

This program is full of teachable moments when combining adventure,
outdoor pursuits and team challenges.
Campers will explore the definition of initiative while on their overnight
camping trip. Campers will challenge themselves on high ropes, orienteering,
cooking over a fire all the while searching to find what drives them!
This program complements the Alpha Junior program.

Tripping skills, Communication, Goal Setting,

Responsibility.

Alpha Adventurers

The Alpha Adventurer program allows campers to continue to build on their

outdoor skills and enthusiasm for leadership. Campers will experience high
ropes, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, nature identification, and high energy
activities enriched with lessons of team work, communication, gratitude, and
risk taking! This is a great program for campers who have or want to build an
enthusiasm for the outdoors and leadership.

APPLY FOR ALPHA ADVENTURERS

Initiative Navigators
Initiative Navigation

Through one of the most powerful programs YLCChas to

offer, Navigators will discover themselves and their potential. Campers will
spend two weeks in the outdoors; tracking their successes and challenges in
their personal journals.
Their focus is on creating their own personal success statement. Navigators
will also embark on a three-day outtrip. Navigators will come away from this
program having charted their own course and proud of who they are and
what they have achieved!
This program is a stepping stone for the Outtripper program.

YLCC Learning Outcomes: Self-Discovery, Canoe and

Tripping Skills, Goal Setting, Outdoor Adventure,

Confidence in the Transition into Grade 9 or 10.

Alpha Intermediate
Alpha Intermediate

Be your best self! YLCC is a place where there are no outside influences - an
environment where teenagers can relax and be themselves.
The Intermediate program will have campers creating their own Guide to
Greatness, experiencing mentoring and seeing first hand the importance of
leading by example.
Team challenges, water sports, high ropes courses, and personal leadership
coaching will help campers develop a better understanding of how to take
leadership and apply it to their everyday lives!

Setting, Confidence in the tranistion to Grade 9 and

10, Awareness on How to Make their own Difference in
the World.

APPLY FOR ALPHA INTERMEDIATE

Leader In Training
Leader in Training

Included in this two-week program are 40 hours of hands-on volunteer job

experience within our facility.
The LIT program has two goals: having fun and filling the Life
Toolbox! LIT campers will participate in all of our traditional camp activities
including rock climbing, high ropes, canoeing, and the many electives!
Each LIT group will be given a series of job-training workshops which teach
interview, time-management and resume-building skills. Campers will gain
valuable work experience, a letter of reference, and the tools needed to gain
part-time employment or enter the volunteer workforce!

YLCC Learning Outcomes: Teamwork, Resume, 40 hours

of Community service, Time Management, Strong

Awareness of different ways to Volunteer their time, A
greater understanding of what each camper wants
their impact to be.

Programs & Calendar

YLCC offers a variety of programs for campers in Kindergarten to Grade 12.

We offer both Day Camps and Residential Camps for campers to participate
in. Each program is counseled by our highly trained staff.
Through our unique leadership curriculum we challenge campers to push
their limits to learn more about leadership and themselves. The programs
work progressively allowing campers to return each year to gain a deeper
understanding of their leadership style and discover more about themselves.
All programs are designed to be world class and help campers discover their
true potential.

Alpha Senior

Senior Adventurer

YLCC gives Seniors the personal development opportunities they need to

create the life they choose to live; including learning about the art of conflict
resolution, trust building, event planning, group dynamics, values, personal
goal setting, facing fears and even public speaking!
Through a combination of workshops, time-management techniques,
dedicated reflection, problem solving, life-mapping and serious goal setting
these campers will set their compass on their next five years. This program is
perfect for the teen who wants to get a jump-start on success.

Initiative Outtripper
Initiative Outripper

This program is perfect for returning campers yearning for more! Combine
the love of the outdoors with a challenging multi-day out-trip in the Muskokas
and you have our Outtrippingprogram. This two-week program will put
leadership skills to the test while promoting complete self-sufficiency on a
five-day wilderness out-trip.
Campers will start at the craft barn to make their own paddles to bring along
on their trip. This exciting program is perfect for honing outdoor skills,
understanding the impact that individuals make on our environment and
working together for success.

YLCC Learning Outcomes: Leave No Trace Camping,

Teamwork, Outdoor Adventure and Tripping Skills, Trip

Counsellor in Training
Counsellor in Training

The CIT program is the highest and most in-depth leadership training
course we offer. The program focuses on developing skills in the areas of
time-management, goal setting and presentation skills. We prepare the
campers for camp counselling, program planning, leadership training, as well
as offer them full participation in classic camp activities.
This program is highly recognized for its ability to prepare young adults for
life after high school. This 28-day session gives campers a powerful glimpse
into what it takes to be part of the YLCC team and how incredible their future
can look!

YLCC Learning Outcomes: Time Management, Goal

Setting, Facilitation and Debriefing, Self-Awareness,

Transition into Post Secondary, Camp Counsellor Skills.

Youth Camps

Thank you for the best summer I have experienced to date. YLCC taught me
how to embrace my values and to express opinions. The entire camp and
amazing staff believed in me achieving any goal I were to set.

Thank you Stu and Ornj and the AMAZING counsellors and staff for making
the past two weeks amazing for Noah. He sobbed when we left, and cant wait
to return. He showed me his journal and we compared it to last years - what a
difference a year makes.
