1. PURPOSE: Teacher states clearly the purpose of todays lessonwhat, why, &
how will be incorporated in the overall learning.
2. ANTICIPATORY SET: Teacher presents a written question on the blackboard to
set the tone for the expected lesson/activity.
3. INPUT: Teacher includes additional things such as the vocabulary words
and/or activity handouts the students need to know in order to be successful
in the lesson.
4. MODELING: Teacher shows or demonstrates what the finished product will
look like.
5. GUIDED PRACTICE: Teacher leads the students through the necessary steps to
perform the required task.
6. CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING: Teacher uses a variety of questioning
strategies to ascertain if the students have grasped the understanding of the
assignment needed to complete the task.
7. INDEPENDENT PRACTICE: Teacher releases the students to practice on their
own based on numbers 3 & 6.
8. CLOSURE: Teacher conducts a review of the overall lesson.
