MAN OVERBOARD

( Using a Williamson or 60-60 turn )


In the event of a person falling overboard, the following procedure
should to be carried out as soon as possible:
1.

Start a Williamson turn towards side over which the person fell
(to swing propeller from person).

2.

Release bridge wing lifebuoy and man-overboard signal on the


same side as the person fell.

3.

Sound the General Emergency Alarm signal.

4.

Post lookouts on both bridge wings with instructions not to lose


sight of the person or the man-overboard smoke/light signal.

5.

Advise the Master and put engines on Stand-by.

6.

Prepare Lifeboat/Rescue Boat for launching.
