FDM to FDMEE
Overview

Legacy FDM
Financial Data Quality Management: finance owned tool for
integrating and validating financial data from any of your source
systems to the EPM suite.

Key benefits include increased confidence in your numbers,

improved productivity, simplify data handling and reduce cost of
compliance.
End user driven with little involvement on the IT side
11.1.2.3 is the final release of legacy FDM

What is FDMEE?
Financial Data Management Enterprise Edition: the
combination of Financial Data Quality Management (FDM) and ERP
Integrator (ERPi)

Integrate metadata and data from an Enterprise Resource Planning

(ERP) source system into an Enterprise Performance Management
(EPM) target application

Drill through from the EPM target application and view data in the
ERP source system

Write-back budget data to the source system from any Oracle

Hyperion Planning, Oracle Essbase ASO, or Essbase BSO
application

Enable users to load data from flat files into an Enterprise

Performance Management (EPM) target application

Drill through from the EPM target application and view mapped
data and open source file

FDMEE - ERP Source Systems

ERPi is now fully integrated in Oracle Hyperion Financial Data
Management (FDMEE)
Able to move data and metadata from ERPs to Oracle Enterprise
Performance Management (EPM)

FDMEE has prebuilt framework for:

Oracle eBusiness Suite

PeopleSoft Enterprise Fin Mngmnt
PeopleSoft Commitment Control
JD Edwards Enterprise
Fusion General ledger

SAP Financials
SAP BW
PeopleSoft Human Capital Management
Open Interface framework

Using a prebuilt framework FDMEE will enable EPM applications to drill

into ERP data detail (specific journal entries) with context pass through
FDMEE can write data back into ERPs (budget, forecast)
The ERP Source System interface is part of the EPM Workspace and
is centrally managed using Shared Services

Key Benefits of FDMEE

Improved User Experience - user interface is consistent
with Planning and Financial Management
Workspace Integration, including multiple browsers
Improved performance improved data load
performance using ODI engine
Shared Services integration security groups
Support for Lifecycle Management
Additional mapping options

Whats different in FDMEE?

Jython is replacing FDMs current VBA-based and VBScript-based

custom scripting

MultiDimensional Mapping

Enables you to define member mapping based on multiple source

column values. This functionality provides you with the ability to
load data into dimensions not available in the target application.
For example, the mapping for Account can be based on the source
value in Entity and Product.
Can only be used on source dimension members, need to use
Jython script for target members
Similar to VarValues in FDM

Additional wildcard options

Used in Event, Import, Custom and Mapping

<x>
<Blank>

Data Write-Back - You define data write-back rules to determine

how you want to extract the budget data from Planning and write it
back to the ERP system.

Whats the same in FDMEE?

The Fish are still there!!!

Import Formats
Locations
Metadata Rules
Mappings

Explicit, Between, In, Like

Same processing order

Logic Accounts for conditional mapping

Check Rules use to define Check report
Batch processing
Security similar to FDM, define user types (loader, reviewer)

Define by location to facilitate groups

Reports most commonly used reports have migrated

FDMEE Look & Feel

In todays presentation, we will cover:
FDMEE Navigation
FDMEE Modules
FDMEE User Demo
Data Import, Validate, Export, Check
New Account Mapping
Drill Through to Source

16

FDMEE Data Management

To access FDMEE, select Navigate > Administrator > Data Management

17

FDMEE Workflow
Data Load
Data Load Workbench Import, Validate, Export and
Check
Data Load Rule define data load rules to extract data
from your ERP source system
Data Load Mapping used to define the mapping from the
source system to the target system
Logic Group - system generated accounts that are used to
calculate supplemental values that are not provided in
source files
Check Rule Group used to define check report
Check Entity Group used to assign check report to
entities

FDMEE Workflow
Metadata
Metadata Rule used to define metadata load. Does not
load all attributes. For example, HFM can load account
and entity but for account only account type and C1-C4

Write Back
Write Back Workbench provides the functionality from
which you can review and verify the data to be written back
to the ERP system
Write Back Rule use to define rules to extract the budget
data from Planning and write it back to the ERP system
Write Back Mapping data write back mappings occur at
the member level and are used for data write-back rules

19

FDMEE Workflow
Other
Batch Execution to show all batches that have been
defined in FDMEE, and schedule batches
Report Execution to run FDMEE reports

Monitor
Process Details to view submitted rule status and logs

20

FDMEE Setup
Configure

System Settings apply to entire system

Application Settings apply to specific target application
Security Settings role and location
User Settings apply to a specific user

Register
Source System register source application to use with
FDMEE
Target Application register target application to use with
FDMEE
Source Accounting Entity select the source system
accounting entities (ledgers or business units) you want to
use for integration.
Source Adapter enables you to extract data from source
system in a flexible and customizable manner
21

FDMEE Setup
Integration Setup
Import Format use to define source segments to target
dimensions
Location specify where to load data
Period Mapping define periods to be used
Category Mapping define categories to be used

Reports
Query Definition SQL queries that can be written to
display data as a report
Report Definition determines the report definition, can
create report based on query definition

Batch
Batch Definition use to define batch jobs and
parameters

Data File Import, Export, Validate, Check

23

Whats new to watch for.

Import and Validate happen as single step during import
Several new features in Data Load Workbench:
Columns display Source and Target for each dimension
Easier to sort and filter on dimension
Show All Data, Valid Data, Invalid Data and Ignored Data

Process details button to view log file (good for resolving errors)
Check report needs to be saved prior to viewing

Account Mapping with Multi Dimension

59

Whats new to watch for.

Multi Dimension mapping define member mappings based on
multiple source column values. For example, map based on source
Account and ICP.
Special Character mapping used in Like mapping only
Asterisk (*) used for wildcard mapping, many characters
Question mark (?) placeholder for one character
<1>, <2>, <3>, <4>, <5> Processes concatenated values and extracts
the corresponding segment value (identified by the segment number).
For example: <2> special character from 01_420 source data, results in
420. The second segment value of 420 is returned.
<Blank>

Methods above can replace mapping previously done using

var(Values)

Migration
Migration considerations:
Enhancements:
Performance
Multidimensional mapping
Wildcarding

How much scripting do you currently have?

What is the desire to drill directly into ledgers?

What do you use to load data to Essbase?

How do you maintain you metadata in your EPM suite?

Other EPM Suite application enhancements desired.
