GURU Presentation

Students Names: Alexander Howell & Brooke Tenley

Tool/App/Software (Product) Name: GoNoodle
Part I: Research and Review
Provide written responses (use full sentences) for Part I:
Why/When would an instructor utilize the GURU product in the classroom?
GoNoodle videos can be used at the beginning of the day or even if a class is become restless or
to energized. It provides fun videos that get students to be active and playful. Many of the videos
include jumping, stretching, and dancing. This product could be effectively used at the beginning
of the day, when students are still sleepy or just not fully focused. It can also be used for a rowdy
classroom, to help deplete some of their energy.
What are other uses for the product?
Some other uses of GoNoodle are helping to wake up students early in the morning. Also to try
to calm down rowdy classrooms, or even if the class seems a bit lethargic, you can use the videos
to bring them up.
What are the pros and cons associated with this product?
Some Pros of GoNoodle would be to help get out excess energy of calssrooms. Another pro
would be to help wake up classrooms early in the morning. This could also help children with
learning disabilities such as ADHD.
Some Cons of GoNoodle would be that possibly handicapped students may feel left out, since
they may not be able to jump or stretch or dance like is depicted in some of the GoNoodle
videos. Another possible con is that the dancing and energetic videos could cause a classroom to
become rowdy, and take away from the seriousness of the class.
Could the intended purpose be accomplished more effectively with paper and pencil
than with technology? Explain
A teacher could possibly have a classroom draw or write to try to open up the class, but
GoNoodle is helping relieve excess energy and also to help wake up classes in the mornings.
Paper and Pencil activities although good for opening up the brain, are not getting students out of
their seats, it is not allowing students to move around.
Does it pass the Do No Harm and 4 Cs test?
o Do No Harm It does not harm, but can possibly leave out handicapped
children.
o Creativity- The videos are all very creative, and are each different and unique
in their own way. By using music and dancing as well as words and stretches.
o Collaboration- GoNoodle can be used in the classroom as well as at home,
kids can do the same videos either at home or at school.

ISTC 301

o Communication Connection- classrooms can be filmed while doing GoNoodle

dances, and share with the web or even parents and other schools. It could also
be a fun activity to do for an assembly.
o Critical Thinking- Many of the GoNoodle videos involve words in the dances.
But giving your brain a break is actually very healthy for future thought in the
classroom.
