extension to the 100-MW coal-fired plant at Naga
City, in Cebu was officially launched as a result of
bilateral agreements signed by the Philippine and
Korean governments. Development was by a
60:40 joint venture of Kepco and Salcon Power
Corp from Singapore. The Philippine Board of
Investments approved incentives for the project,
which has two CFB boilers and burns local coal
from Semirara Mining Corp. The project cost an
estimated $278mn.

coal-fired power plant at Sitio Tampuan, Barangay
Kamanga, Sarangani. In Feb 2009, Kiamba town
leaders passed a resolution supporting the project,
then estimated to cost $450mn. Ground-breaking
was in Dec 2011. In Dec 2012, the structure of
developer Sarangani Energy was formed as a
75:25 JV of Alsons Consolidated and Toyota
Tsusho Corp. That same month, Sarangani Energy
secured a P9.3bn syndicated loan from a
consortium of local banks including BDO Universal
Bank (BDO), Asia United Bank (AUB), Rizal
Commercial Banking Corp, United Coconut
Planters Bank, Philippine Business Bank, Planters
Development Bank, and Robinsons Bank. The joint
lead arrangers for the loan were BDO Capital and
Investment Corporation and RCBC Capital
Corporation with Asia United Bank as Co-Arranger.
The CFB boilers were orderde in Feb 2013 and the
unit wa synchronized in Jan 2016.
