Machine Design Contest

One of the highlights of the concluded Mechanical Engineering Week is the Machine
Design Competition held last October 25 at the Batangas State University Main Campus II
Gymnasium. The main thrust of holding competitions like this is to showcase the capabilities of
the students to apply their learnings from their design subjects and to develop their ability to
work as a team. The competition was participated by the mechanical engineering students
divided according to their peer groups. Each group is required to produce two outputs: the
mechanical transporter and the balls sorter. 20 clips must be efficiently transferred to an elevation
by the mechanical transporter each group must design, also, the group must also be able to put up
a ball sorter which will lead the pingpong balls and marbles to their designated area several
inches away from the loading point. The contest started at around nine in the morning. The
mechanics of the contest was read and the pointing system was explained clearly before each
group started working on their projects. Equal number of materials were provided for each team.
For a total of one and a half hour, the teams enthusiastically and intelligently worked on their
designs. Further questions and clarifications were entertained during the course of the activity. At
the end of the given time, all design projects were fixed on the designated area for each team.
Only a representative or two shall be present at the testing and other members was sent out of the
boundaries of the workspace. Engr. Mary Joan Leacille R. Manalo headed the testing team. The
efficiency of each design was examined and was rated using the same pointing system. After
computing all the scores, the three groups who garnered the top 3 highest points were hailed the
winners. Trophies, and cash prizes sponsored by Denso Phils. were awarded to the winning
groups.

MESS Christmas Party

Having a break from the stress brought by this semester, the mechanical engineering
students celebrated this yuletide season with a Christmas bash hosted by MESS last December
21, 2016 with the theme Believing in the Magic of this season, Giving love and Sharing Joy
held at the Batangas State University Main Campus II Gymnasium. The party started with the
usual ceremonies like prayer, opening remarks and messages from the faculty. Series of fun and
exciting games were enjoyed by the students. Intermission numbers from different year levels
made the crowd cheer and go wild. Of course, the most awaited and most stimulating part of the
event is the raffle draw. Lots of G-tech pens and refills, several fiesta hams, Noche Buena
package, cellular phone, electric fan and many more prizes from different sponsors were given
away. Though short-timed, this party brought a relaxation and delight to each student despite all
of the removal examinations they are about to take, all of the final requirements they must
submit and all other issues they must settle. And as what this event aimed to achieve, indeed, this
party had given love and shared joy to each member who participated.
