My Billboard/Poster
Title: Come to Cambridge

Treatment
Welcome to Cambridge, a radiant and controversial city because of its
prowess of being the epicenter for genius students around the world but the
real reason that Cambridge should be known for is that it is where all cultures,
religions and people of different ethnicities congregate. For example as you
were to stroll down Mill Road which is near enough at the Centre of
Cambridge you would see an almost endless array of shops that have a
different ethnical background such as Chinese, Italian, Middle Eastern, Afro
Caribbean, Malaysian, British etc. The are also mind blowing artwork along a
bridge on Mill Road that emphasizes the many different ethnic backgrounds
that live in Cambridge. On this digital billboard I am going to be doing a pan
shot of the bridge in Mill Road that has a lot of flags painted on it and for each
country that gas a different language on the bridge it will come up with
Welcome to Cambridge then it will go white and say Come to Cambridge
live a beautiful life in the Cambridge blue colours and below in smaller writing
the log line DiverCity will come up and it will be in opposite colours. This I
feel will appeal to students and tourists because Cambridge is already known
for its educational opportunities and that will attract students from all over but
now it will attract those students that have a strong ethnic background
because they now know that they will be welcomed in to Cambridge. Tourists
will be interested in Cambridge because they now know that they can explore
all that Cambridge has to offer and still go to places that remind them of
where they come from and meet people that have the same background and
feel welcome in Cambridge. On my poster it will have the word Cambridge
with the background being many tourist attractions and the universities. and in
the word Cambridge it has all the flags in it and the word Cambridge will be in
big letters, and again DiverCity will be below.

Proposal
Conventions of a billboard & poster:
My billboard and poster will fit the conventions of a billboards and posters
because I will use samples from the promotional billboards and posters like
the ones below and I will make sure it distributes the message that I want my
target audience to receive.

On my billboard the words Welcome to Cambridge will pan across the screen
in different languages to show that people of different ethnicities are welcome
in Cambridge.
Here are some examples:

Synopsis:
I am trying to tell everyone that Cambridge city is a diverse and unique city
and that if you come her you will be welcomed by anyone. Bridge with all the
vibrant flags that have been beautifully painted on it and each flag I come
across that it a different language I will have Welcome to Cambridge in that
specific language. Then the word DiverCity meaning diversity. This billboard
will be a digital billboard.

Target Audience:
18-60, both genders, having either a part-time or full time job so they will have
enough money so that they can travel to Cambridge once seeing the
billboards and poster. Tourists/People of different ethnicities from England
would like to come because the message communicates that anyone of any
ethnicity will be welcome in Cambridge. Students from all over will be
interested in Cambridge because Cambridge is already known for its
educational opportunities and that will attract students from all over but now it
will attract those students that have a strong ethnic background because they
now know that they will be welcomed in to Cambridge. Tourists will be
interested in Cambridge because they now know that they can explore all that
Cambridge has to offer and still go to places that remind them of where they
come from and meet people that have the same background and feel
welcome in Cambridge.

Aim/Objective for finished product:


The aim for my finished products is to inform people that Cambridge is a
unique and diverse city and that anyone is welcome to the city. The billboards
will be all over East Anglia on massive billboards in busy cities, in train
stations and underground posters, in airports but they must be outside of
Cambridge city. I would imagine my poster to look down like the one below
but have a lot of flags and the different languages saying welcome to

Cambridge. Would like my billboard to have good clear quality of the bridge as
well as understandable and clear writing with the iconic Cambridge blue
colour, when the words come up the colours must be contrasting. I would like
my digital billboard to look like the one below but moving.

Style and Genre:


The style of my billboard and poster is informative and colloquial but they are
both going to be colourful and include various pictures. My billboard is a digital
billboard.

I will need a DSLR so I can take good quality pictures to use on my poster.
Having a camera that can record the footage I need for my digital billboard will
be helpful. Photoshop will help me edit the pictures. Final cut pro will help me
in editing the footage I need for my digital billboard. The cameraman will
operate the camera and take pictures of the locations. The editor will edit the
billboard and poster together.

Job Titles/Responsibilities:
Camera man- Charlotte Creek, I want her to pan the bridge in Mill Road and
take different pics of Cambridge University
Editing- Oscar Carter, I want him to put fade between the two shots in the
Billboard and I want him to Photoshop my poster
Director- Me (Andrew) because it is my production company. I will be
supervising every stage from camerawork to editing

Client Distribution:
I think that my client can distribute and market my billboard and poster
around east Anglia so that all the surrounding cities can see how unique
Cambridge so that they can visit. Therefore I think the best place to place the
billboards and posters in busy cities, in train stations and underground
posters, in airports but they must be outside of Cambridge city. I could also
have a joint venture with the Universities by talking about student diversity in
Cambridge as well. These images are where I imagine the billboards and
posters could go. The posters can also go in the papers as a double-sided
spread.

BBFC:
I rate it as U because it can be viewed by anyone because it does not include
drugs, sex, or violence
