For the past 10 years,

Christmas comes midway
through November, at least
that is the case at the The
Lutheran Heritage Center
and Museum of Altenburg,
The museum invites visitors to accompany them for
their 11th Annual Christmas Tree Exhibit. This year
they will showcase over 35
themed trees.
All of the trees have been
redesigned and there are numerous new trees including
a Frozen tree inspired by
the Disney movie Frozen,
a redesigned tree by Altenburg Public School in honor
of their beloved Kindergarten teacher who is battling
cancer and a gold ancestor
tree as an introduction to
their new Starzinger Family
Research Library Room.
I believe that the exhibit is better each year
and includes numerous
new trees including a German lace tree, a jingle bell
themed tree by the students

of United in Christ Lutheran School, and a Letters to Heaven tree by the

Altenburg Public School,
commented Director Carla
Jordan.
They are also featuring a
beautiful Hummel Nativity
from the Norma Kellerhals
collection and paper Christmas houses from Leonard
Kuehnert.
Bethlehem Corner is
another feature in the main
gallery, which features their
parlor organ collection and
Nuremburg
harpsichord
along with the 1870s scrap
ornament tree made from
the scraps of Christmas
past, the Blue tree which
features the message of the
new born King and the
Three Kings tree which
shares the treasure of the
birth of the Lord.
Jordan designs the trees
and volunteers and some
special guest tree decorators work together to put all
the displays up in a timely
manner.
We usually come in and
many of us have our certain

WANTED

trees we put up, or new ones

will get chosen, stated Delores Schmidt, a volunteer
who works at the museum,
We do this within a weeks
time.
There were also some
guest designers for at least
two of the trees. The German Lace Tree, by Delores
Darnstaedt, and Scherenschnitte Tree, designed by
Kathy Schlimpert.
The museum will be open
every day 10 a.m. 4 p.m.
(closed Thanksgiving and
Christmas Day only.),and
until 8 p.m. every Thursday
in December. They will be
open 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. during the Christmas Country
Church Tour, Dec. 18 and
19. Admission is free.
Bus tours and organizationalmeetings are welcome. 75 Church Street,
