Writing: This week we were able to share our color books with each other! Students did a wonderful job sitting EEKK (elbow
to elbow, knee to knee) and speaking in appropriate level and clear voices so partners can hear. This book has really
helped us use our word wall and our color and sight words (I, a, the, and, & of).
Handwriting: All capital letters! Lowercase letters: o, c, s, v, w, t, d, g, u, e, l, & k.
Math:
Students rotated through 6 centers this week to practice different skills learned throughout quarter 2. Quarter 3 will begin
with non-standard measurement but with weight. Students will learn that objects can be heavier, lighter, or equal. We will
use unifix cubes, teddy bear and frog counters, and assorted classroom objects to help weigh things on our balance scale.
We will make predictions of whether an object is heavier or lighter. We will continue to work through our 6 centers as well.
Social Studies:
We have loved our magnet unit! We explored around the classroom to find what is magnetic and what is non-magnetic. It
was also fun to feel the magnets pull/attract and push/repel each other. This unit wrap up next week and we will begin to
discuss water properties. We will talk about the three stages of water (solid, liquid, and gas) and begin some investigations
with the water properties.
