What We Did, What’s Coming Up:
Language Arts:
Over the past couple of weeks, we have been working on writing non-fiction books about
our favorite foods! We began with reading a non-fiction piece called I Like Pasta by
Jennifer Julius. Next we observed grapes and wrote things we could observe about them
using our five senses. We then brainstormed foods we liked and discussed that we need to
know at least 3 facts about the food. Our books have coming along great! We have really
been focusing on what a sentence needs to be a proper one: capital at the beginning,
lowercase letters in the middle, good finger spaces, and punctuation at the end.

Math:
We have been working hard on teen numbers, skip counting, and combinations with sums up to 10. We were introduced
to a number line and how to use it to help us with counting. We counted how many chairs and noses (by 1’s), eyes (by 2’s),
and hands (by 10’s) are in our room – we could not believe how many of each there were! One center that we have
added that we are very much enjoying is our Counting Book. Each week we paste in a new picture and then we get to
decide how we would like to count it, there are so many different answers! This week’s picture was three boxes of donuts.

Science:
During our content block, we have been discussing seasonal change regarding spring. We compared the season to the
other three seasons and talked about what people, animals, plants, and the weather do. Now we are focusing on types of
weather. Every day we record the weather and try to predict the weather like meteorologists. We will be researching our
favorite kind of weather and making a project mural about them to share with others.
