These are the minutes from Post 10216 meeting held on Monday, 3 October 2016. There were 34 Post
members in attendance
Opening Ceremonies: The meeting opened at 1830 by Commander Cynthia. Chaplain Billy Q led us in our
opening prayer and Commander Cynthia led the Post in our Pledge of Allegiance.

Commander Cynthia inducts our newest members and presents their Cross of Malta and VFW coins.
Post Meeting Minutes: September meeting minutes were disseminated via email, at www.vfw10216.com and
posted to our Facebook page by JVC Leon. SVC Max made a motion to accept the minutes subject to
correction; 2nd by Billy Q. Motion carried. They have been posted to our Post website at www.vfw10216.com

Bills: None
Quartermaster Ron Davis: Ron presented the September audit endorsed by Trustees Dan, Mark, and
Terrence. Motion to accept reports by QM Ron, 2nd by SVC Max. Our bottom line at NFCU is $20,067 after
all expenses to date. You can view the monthly and quarterly audits at the Post home on the bulletin board
above the desktop computer.
Reading of incoming communications: None.
Report of Service Officer/Doc Higgins: Working with American Legion member and veteran Bobby Wade.
Comrade(s) in Distress: Chaplain Billy Q asks all to keep in your thoughts and prayers JVC Leon, Rikki Rice,
Ernie Lee and his wife, Frank ODonnell and Larry Lyons.

Senior Vice Commander Report on Membership Statistics (MemStats) by SVC Max:

October - MemStats (As of now, we need 170 new members by the end of next June to be eligible for All
American).

American Friendship Festival.

Military Assistance Program (MAP) and Adopt-A-Unit / Ernie Lee: Nothing to report
Youth Activities, Voice of Democracy / Teachers Award / Patriots Pen Doc Higgins: Topics this year are
(My Responsibility to America) and (America I Believe In). Doc took the handouts to the schools for student
and teacher participation in the programs.
First Responder Special Programs (EMT/Law Enforcement/Fire Fighter Doc): Need 2016 inputs by
30 November 2016 for review prior to forwarding to District, Department and National for selection.
Cub Scout Pack 86 Representatives: Nothing to report
Boy Scouts Representatives / Joel Bickle: Nothing to report
POW/MIA / Shannon Sutton: Nothing to report
House Rules Committee Chairman / Van: Nothing to report.
Canteen Report / Van: See budget report at Post home bulletin board above computer. Canteen was + $40 for
the month.
Safety Chairman Jason Schmitz: Nothing to report . . . be safe during the KAFF. Jason will be out and about
on safety patrol during the KAFF
Women in the Military / Sarah Ortega-Russell: Sarah was excused, however all in attendance agreed
Women in the military are still good.
History / Vacant: Working updates.
VFW Motorcycle Riders by Chairman Van Hazel: Nothing to report.
Remembering of our National Home: Chaplain Billy Q offered remembrance and prayer for our National
Home in accordance with VFW tradition and ceremony.
OLD (CLOSED) BUSINESS: None.

Military Order of the Cootie (MOC): The Big Bug will preside over the next Cootie scratch on 15 Oct @
1330ish at the Post Canteen.
For those who have questions about the Cooties, the Military Order of the Cootie or MOC is considered the
Honored Degree of the VFW. Membership is open to members in good standing in the VFW who have
displayed their willingness to work for the parent organization. If you are active in supporting the Post, you
may be approached to join this prestigious organization.
