PICTORIAL NARRATIVE REPORT ON SIMULTANEOUS SCHOOL-BASED

CONDUCT OF THE NATIONAL EARTHQUAKE DRILL
Earthquake is one of the detrimental disasters that comprises loss of property and
jeopardizes peoples lives. No one can tell when and where it will happen .Often times it
happened in places where people are hanging around and working. Earthquake is a natural
phenomenon caused by constant movement of the earths crustal plates due to
environmental change.
The National Risk Reduction Management Council ( NDRRMC ) through the Office of
Civil Defense

( OCD ) in collaboration with different national agencies spearheaded the

conduct of the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill . As one of the national agencies
adhering this advocacy , the Department of Education is continuously promoting and obliging
all schools to annually conduct an earthquake drill.
So with this, Capunitan Elementary School is also yearly complying with this
informative event to equip the learners with the knowledge , proper attitude and skills on
what to do before, during, and after an earthquake. It was conducted last June 22, 2016 at 9
oclock in the morning. Proper communication among persons in authority in time like this is
very necessary.
The short orientation and drill summed up with three most important things to
remember and to do, they are ducting, covering and holding. All pupils were able to
experience all these three. After the drill , all of them were geared up and ready when the
earthquake occurs.
It was an enlightening moment for everyone to remember because it will definitely
save thousands of lives knowing the facts and the things all must do.
