The maintenance programme and any subsequent amendments shall be approved by
the competent authority. The maintenance programme details should be reviewed at least
annually. As a minimum revisions of documents affecting the programme basis need to
be considered by the owner or operator for inclusion in the maintenance during the
annual review. Applicable mandatory requirements for compliance with Part-21 should be
incorporated into the owner or operator's maintenance programme as soon as possible.
1.1.9. Pre-flight maintenance tasks:
There is no pre-flight maintenance that should be performed by maintenance staff,
although the Pre-flight inspection must be done by the type-rated pilot.
Pre-flight inspection is for the pilot and/or mechanic and should become part of the
airplane operational routine. Pre-flight check must be performed before each flight.
The first step in pre-flight check is to take a good look at the aircraft to make sure there
are no leaks and that the aircraft is not listing awkwardly to one side.
The following steps are to be accomplished before continuing with the Cockpit and
Exterior Inspection:
engine covers - removed
pitot covers - removed
Preliminary Cockpit Inspection
A preliminary cockpit inspection should be made prior to each flight. The presence of
following items on board should be checked:

As shown in the charts, there are item to be checked each 50 hours, each 100
hours, each 200hours and also Special Inspection items which require servicing or
inspection at intervals other than 50, 100 or 200hours.
When conducting an inspection at 50 hours, all items marked under EACH
50 HOURS would be inspected, serviced or otherwise accomplished as
necessary to insure continuous airworthiness.
At each 100 hours, the 50 hours items would be accomplished in addition
to the items marked EACH 100 HOURS as necessary to insure
continuous airworthiness.
An inspection conducted at 200 hour intervals would likewise include the
50 hour items and 100 hour item in addition to those at EACH
200HOURS.
The numbers appearing in the SPECIAL INSPECTION ITEMS column
refer to data listed at the end of the inspection charts. These items should
be checked at each inspection interval to insure that applicable servicing
and inspection requirements are accomplished at the specified intervals.
A complete aircraft inspection includes all 50, 100 and 200 hour items plus
those Special Inspection item, which are due at the time of the inspection.

be performed to ensure proper function. Serviceable parts that were issued to the component
will be filed in the aircraft permanent records. The person performing the test must make
appropriate entries in the aircraft's permanent maintenance record.
f)
MAINTENANCE - The word maintenance means "inspection, overhaul, repair,
preservation and the replacement of parts, but excludes preventive maintenance."
g)
ON CONDITION MAINTENANCE - A primary maintenance process having repetitive
inspections or tests to determine the condition of units, systems, or portions of structure with
regard to continued serviceability (corrective action is taken when required by item condition.)
TIME AS USED IN THIS MANUAL
1.
NOTE: Dates stamped on individual components at the time of manufacture are typically
applied to determine shelf life - i.e. the maximum time allowed from manufacture/
assembly/cure until actually installed in an aircraft and are not relevant. Do not, however;
ignore markings applied to life-limited parts when removed with time and/or cycles remaining
on them.
Aircraft time, flight hours, or aircraft hours are the "Hobbs Time" shown on, or calculated
from, installed "Hour Meter."
A complete "engine cycle" is defined as engine start, idle, takeoff, flight, landing, idle, and
shutdown. Many aircraft operations involve partial engine cycles (i.e. - idle, takeoff, flight,
landing, idle) that, with the application of an appropriate formula (see P&WC Service Bulletin
No. 3002), are also factored into the calculation of service life limits.
NOTE: The owner/operator is responsible for recording and calculating life limiting cycles.
10.
FINAL PROVISIONS:
Maintenance Manual has been approved by the Directorate of Civil Aviation and applies
to individual aircraft.
