Activity 1:
Aims: -to lead in the lesson
-to get the students involved

Procedure: 1. The teacher greets the students, checks


homework and leads the students in correcting it.
2. The teacher asks the students to look at the
picture story in their books. She asks some questions and listens
to some of the students answers.
Ex. Where are the people?
What can you buy in this shop?
Interaction: T - SS
Timing: 5 min.

Activity 2:
Aims: -to develop reading skills and check understanding of
language
-to present and develop new vocabulary
Procedure: 1. The teacher asks the students to look at the
picture story and watch a video about some people in a clothes
shop. She checks understanding with the help of an exercise
where students have to match some parts of sentences.
2. The teacher presents the vocabulary being learnt
with the help of the CD and asks the students to repeat the new
words.

Activity 3:
Aims: - to develop listening skills
-to teach plural forms
-to familiarize the students with English money
Procedure: 1. The students watch a video with conversation
taking place in a shop and the use of How much is and how
much are.

2. The teacher elicits some answers from the


students about the use of How much is/are and explains use
once again and the plural forms of some nouns, too.
3.The teacher presents English money with the help
of some pictures and explains expressing prices and plural.
Ex. Penny pence, pound - pounds

Activity 4:
Aims: -to develop communication and knowledge
-to practise asking and answering about the price
-to develop writing and speaking skills
Procedure: 1. The teacher asks the students to solve an exercise
where they have to complete some sentences with How much is/
are. She then checks correctness and guides the students in
correcting the mistakes.
2. The teacher asks the students to work in pairs
and ask and answer questions about the price of the clothes on
their worksheets.

Activity 5:
Aims: -to practise using the language
-to get feedback from the students
-assigning homework
Procedure: 1. The teacher prepares a shopping corner in the
classroom previous to the lesson with clothes and Monopoly
money they can use for paying. She also presents a short
conversation in a shop as a guide to the students during the
exercise. The students get into pairs, come to the corner and play

the roles of a shop assistant and a customer while asking about


the price of the clothes.
2. As homework, the students have to read some
sentences on their worksheets and write yes or no next to
each sentence according to the pictures.
3. The very active students are praised and the rest
of the students are encouraged to take part in future lessons.
