LaunchCode names new executive director

Brendan Lind, co-founder and the executive


director of LaunchCode since it was founded in
2013, is leaving the organization.
LaunchCode has promoted Mark Bauer, who
had been working as vice president of
operations for the past year, as Linds
successor.
Lind is leaving LaunchCode, which has an
annual budget of about $5 million and nearly
40 full-time employees, to focus on new
opportunities, though no further details were
given.
Bauer is a former vice president of product
management and tech operations at Host
Analytics, the cloud-based service provider
founded by local entrepreneur Jim Eberlin (now
CEO of TopOPPS). Bauer is also co-founder and
owner of American Fire Sprinklers.

LaunchCode was initially founded as a way to place non-traditional workers in


technology jobs across St. Louis. The organization has since expanded with
educational programs that teach coding to computer programming novices with

the idea that after they complete LaunchCodes training, theyd be ready for a job
in one of LaunchCodes partner companies.
Lind led the charge in placing nearly 500 people in tech jobs and helped the
organization expand into new markets, such as Kansas City, Miami, and Providence,
Rhode Island.
In June, the organization received a portion of $8.4 million in U.S. Department of
Labor grants that will help LaunchCode set up operations in Seattle and in
Portland, Oregon.
