SYNOPSIS
Tentative topic/s:
Cultural Conservation Centre Srikakulam
Broad typology of Thesis
The proposed topic is based on Study and Design based.
Aim
To enhance the prominence of cultural activities in Srikakulam and Kalingapatnam.
Prologue / Justification of the Topic
o Kalingapatnam is a tourist center in Srikakulam.
o Most of the tourists visit it in December to February because this is the peaceable time for
swimming, Beach games and Water sports.
o It is served as one of the ancient harbor towns of Andhra Pradesh and was a major export
center for perfumes and textiles.
o Madina Saheb a Darga is where people of all religions worship the god is near the beach.
o Srikakulam got eminent archaeological significance because of the relavation of Buddhist
existence. The excavation site is 18km away from River Vamsadhara.
o This place had two names Salivatoka (rice emporium) and Salyapetika (box of relics). While
the former was the name given by the locals here, the place was christened Salyapetica for
numerous human bones that were found here upon excavation.
o A significant dig out in the area revealed the many stupas, platforms and ancient sheds.
o But, until now there is no cultural conservation center in Srikakulam.
Objectives
o To study the local existing cultural activities in and around Kalingapatnam.
o To preserve the local culture according to current scenario.
o To encourage the tourism in the local area.
o To incorporate Vastu principles, local techniques and materials in design.

To arrive the
kalingapatnam should cross the
Salihundam Hill and Gara Mandal.
And, there is a light House near the
proposed site.
