Today, [ have to go to Canada for further job prospectus but I can't keep myself away from my fundamental duties, hence on the eve of opening of Surajkund Craft Fair, where Langur services are being hired by the Organisers of this event, to keep away common monkeys from the premises, adopting Jungle Raaj tactics, How and why langurs are captured from their natural habitat and tied in the publie view to keep away monkeys, hence WCCB may kindly be asked to take up this matter instead forwarding to Chicf Wildlife Warden of Haryana, who gave silent consent being co accused of this crime against Langu besides it immediate rescue required of these many captive Langurs for further rehabilitation. Wild Life Crime Controt Bureau (WCCB) is a statutory body constituted under the Wild Life Protection Act, 1972; for combsting wildlfe crime in the country. There have been complaints that some of the Ministries of the Government of India have hired tne services of Langurs for the security of their bulidings 2, _In this regard, it is mentioned that Langur (Presbytis entelius) is listed under ‘Schedule ~ 11 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and it cannot be owned, traded or hired. Contravention of the provisions of the Act carries punishment upto 3 years of imprisonment oF fine or both For any violation, besides the handier, the officer of the Ministry responsible for hiring the services of the animal will ve deemed to have contravened the provisions of the Act and liable for prosecution under Section 62 of the Act 3 Itis therefore requested that langurs if hired by your ministry should be removed from the service immediately and the animals be handed over to the Chief Wildlife Warden of the Goverment of NCT.
