3 February 2017 TOCKINGTON MANOR SCHOOL TOCKINGTON HEADMASTER’S CORNER We were delighted to be able to celebrate our first Year 8 scholarship successes of the year this morning in assembly. All three children performed enormously well and we are all naturally extremely proud of them; Georgina Loring (left) has been awarded a Major Academic Scholarship to Wycliffe College having gained top marks in her recent entrance examination. ‘Angus Duncan (middle) - our Head of Boys’ Sport - has been awarded a Major Sports Scholarship to Wycliffe College having performed supremely well in all sports during the rigorous assessment day. Anya Constantinescu (right) has been awarded a Design & Technology Scholarship to Wycliffe. The Headmaster praised her enthusiasm, problem solving skills and her outstanding knowledge of the subject. | was delighted too to receive an email from Mr Gregory this week praising the high standard of our Year 8 candidates (and quiet rightly so!) look forward to announcing more excellent Year 8 entrance examination results next week. © Tockington Manor School, Washingroo! Player of the Match: Dalis Jones U13 ‘B’ TMS vs St.John’s-on-the-Hill (9-15) The U13 match was competitive and the best game the Y7/8 team has played this term. We were disciplined from the beginning of the match and drew the first quarter, 3-3. We narrowly lost the second quarter, 3-2 and in the third quarter, we allowed the StJohn's team to take a commanding lead, 8-2. Hill Road, Tockington, Bristol, BS22 4NY TOCKINGTON Rot Ns MANOR SCHOOL _ TOCKINGTON TRACKER CROSS COUNTRY Years 3-4 A fabulous personal best from Charlie Newman, shaving 9 seconds off his PB and lowering his 3m 25s! Years 5-8 A tough week on a very muddy, slippery course. Only 2 personal bests, however, they were most impressive. Micaela Cascajosa beat her previous best by 15 seconds lowering her PB to 18m 18s. Jimena Garat ran a stunning 14m 27s having off 21 second off her PB and placing her in out Top 30 Senior Girls in the All Time list. There were strong performances from Luna Mirta-Loinaz, Ceredig Jones, Jake Wakeling, George Bloomfield and Freddie Cooper. The race was led by Dalis Jones who ran a very fast 12m 01s. They saw the ruins of the amphitheatre and barracks where the Roman soldiers lived 2000 years ago and were particularly fascinated with the communal toilet!
