TITLE: Desire

AUTHOR: Paz Latorena

SUMMARY:
1. PLOT
a. What was the story about?
It was about a woman longing for pure love but cant find it because of her
face. Men will just look at her body because it was made perfectly. She didnt
want that kind of attention so she decided to hide it and just pursued writing
and doing little sketches. And because of that, she met a man. She thought
that he will truly like her and eventually love her for who she is but in the end,
he did not. He was just like those other men.

b. Who were the main characters? The supporting characters?

The main character is the woman who had a broad forehead, eyes that were
slanted at the corners, nose that was broad and flat but had a body that men
could die for.
The supporting character that she net after she wrote those delightful letters
and sketches.

c. What did the main character do in the story?

The main character decided to conceal her perfectly made body to see who
will actually love her identity. She covered it with different wardrobe until the
people around her got used to it and concluded that her body might have
been changed that is why she is covering it now which actually made the
main character happy because finally, she will not be able to see those
unbeautiful light in the eyes of those men.

d. What is the main problem/s or struggles of the story?

The main problem or struggle in the story is about the main character wherein
she is longing for pure love that is nowhere to be found but then a bigger
problem came when he met a man whom she thought loved her for who she
really is.

e. Who was your favorite character? Why?

The woman (main character) is my favorite character in the story because
even though she knows to herself that she has certain flaws in terms of her
physical appearance, she never gave up. Even if she was unhappy and hurt,
she pursued her life until a man came into her life. This man occupied a
special place in her heart but still in the end she was hurt by him and despite
of what has happened, she remained strong and continued her life.

2. YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCES

a. Could you relate to any of the characters in the story? Explain.
The lady in the story is longing for pure and true love. She wants someone
who will love her everything about her and not just het body. She wants
someone who will accept her flaws. I cant relate to the character because I
have someone who accepts everything about me. I have this special
someone who does not only love a part of me but loves every inch of me.

b. Have you ever done some of the things or felt some of the same things that the
character did? Cite some experiences.
There are times when I can feel that I am alone, that I dont have anyone who
will help me. But then, unlike the lady in the story, I proved myself wrong. I
realized that I do not just have someone because there are actually a lot of
people out there who are willing to help me step out of the dark.

3.
Re a. Did you like it? Why? Why not?
Yes, I like it because the plot is good and the story has a very inspiring
message.

adi
b. What was your favorite part of the story? Elaborate.
The story was indeed a good one but we have no specific favorite part
because the events in the story did not meet our expectations. It is quite
simple and compared to some of our favorite stories, this story does not
have that exciting part that would really trigger are emotions and feelings.

c. If you could change something in the book, what would it be?
If I could change something in the book, it would be the way the white
man see the brown maiden / Filipina. I want him to love the Filipina not
just because of her body but also because of her whole being. Moreover,
the Filipina deserves to be loved.

4. What is the lesson / moral of the story?

There are a lot of lessons in life that can be learned from the story and some of

an
these are:
You should not be ashamed of yourself even though you dont have the looks
that everyone will surely admire instead you should be proud of yourself and
of everything that you have, whether it is a scar that symbolizes something
from your past.

Believing in yourself is what matters the most. Of all the people existing in his

d
world, you are the only one who knows everything about yourself so you
should not mind what other people think of you. It is because in reality, they
only know a part of you and not everything about you.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You dont have to be perfect and right so
that people will like you because eventually the right people will come in your
life and like you for who you really are.

Wri
Acceptance must come from within and satisfaction is the key to it. All you
have to do is to be satisfied for who you are and for what you have because if
you will not accept yourself, then who will? Accept yourself first so that other
people will accept you too. Just like what this quote wants us to know,
Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darkness
of other people, quoted by Carl Jung.

tin
And lastly, no matter what you are facing right now, just keep in mind that,
Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers
to turn on the light, quoted by Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the
Prisoner of Azkaban.
