Performance In SSLC Exam During 2013 2015

ABSTRACT
This article aim to find out the pass percentage of S.S.L.C.result in different

schools, in Champakulam location. The comparison of the study is based upon the

type of institution and gender. The comparison of the study analysed and

represented graphically.

Mathematics, deductive study of numbers, geometry and various abstract

constructs, of structures, the latter often abstract the textures common to several

models derived from the empirical, or applied, sciences, although many emerge

from purely mathematical or logical consideration. Mathematics is very broadly

divided into foundation, algebra, analysis, geometry and applied mathematics

which includes theoretical computer science.

The secondary school leaving certificate commonly referred to as S.S.L.C.

S.S.L.C. is a certification obtained by a student on successful completion of an

examination at the end of study at the secondary schooling level in India.

The S.S.L.C. must be obtained at the end of term of study at the secondary

school. On obtaining their certificates, the student is deemed to have completed

his basic schooling or basic education. After successful completion of S.S.L.C., a

student wishing to pursue his education further would join a course based on
specialisation he chooses and which gives him knowledge sufficient for him to

enter a University which is sometimes called a Pre-University course for two years.

After their twelve years period of study a student may enter a University for

undergraduate studies. Alternatively, after obtaining the S.S.L.C, a student may

choose to attend an industrial training institute where one can be trained in skill

necessary for technical occupations.

v To find the pass percentage of SSLC in Champakulam Location.

v To compare the performance based on type of institution (Govt & aided)

v To compare the performance based on gender ( boy & girl )

Investigator adopted survey method for the study.

Survey method studies the sampling of individual units from a population and the

associated survey data collection techniques, such as questionnaire construction

and methods for improving the number and accuracy of responses to surveys.

Statistical surveys are undertaken with a view towards making statistical inferences

about the population being studied, and this depends strongly on the survey

questions used. A single survey is made of least a sample (or full population in the

case of a census), a method of data collection and individual questions or items that

become data that can be analysed statistically.

The survey method was adopted for the study. The schools which were

selected for the study were St. Marys H.S.S. Champakulam, N.S.H.S.S.

Nedumudy, D.V.H.S.S. Kandankary and Govt. H.S.S. Thekkekara. The S.S.L.C.

marks of students for the last three years (2013, 2014 & 2015) were taken for the

study, so as to determine the range of variations in marks of students of each

school. For this purpose, a questionnaire was prepared and survey was done at the

schools.

The study was done at four schools in Champakulam. Of these schools, two

were aided and two were government. The question were asked to Headmasters of

each school relating to the pass percentage of S.S.L.C. students during the last

three years, ie. from 2013 2015. The number of students who appeared for

S.S.L.C. exam during the last three years and also the number of students who

passed the S.S.L.C. exam in these years. The valuable informations such as

whether there is any special coaching given to the outstanding students, whether

there is any special guidance & remedial class provided to the weaker students,

whether there is any preference given to the co-curricular activities besides the

academic studies, Whether personality development classes are provided to the

students etc.
CONCLUSION

The S.S.L.C. results for the last three years of these four schools were

evaluated through this project. By analysing the data collected from St. Marys

H.S.S. Champakulam, N.S.H.S.S. Nedumudy, D.V.H.S. Kandankary, Govt. H.S.S.

Thekkekara these schools, it can be understood that all the schools achieved more

than 80% .

When the gender is taken into consideration, the boys of St. Marys H.S.S.

Champakulam showed high result as compared to girls. In N.S.H.S.S. Nedumudy,

the girls achieved high result than the boys. In D.V.H.S. Kandankary, boys showed

high results than the girls. In Govt. H.S.S. Thekkekara, girls passed more than the

boys.

In addition, the samples of the project cannot be identify accurately,

whether, Aided school or Government schools is better. Because the result changed

every year. So we cannot find out the accurate result.

The major finding of this project is the percentage of students passing

S.S.L.C. in 3 years from aided and government schools. And also got the

information about strength of students in this two type of school.

Another finding is, about the number of students who wrote the exams and

from those how many girls and boys were passed.

We got a clear information about the passing percentage of students from

aided and government schools. And we find that, the no. of students writing

S.S.L.C exam in aided school are more than the Government school.

We cannot predict the highest Pass Percentage either in Government School

or Aided School.
