Prompt:
You are driving on a country road. It is late at night. You are far from
home. You realize, as you check your mirrors, there is a man you do not
know, hiding on the floor of your back seat.
Bell Work (Individual work)

Write 2 specific nouns that can be heard.


Write 2 specific verbs that can be seen.
Write 2 specific adjectives that describe a smell.
Write 2 specific adverbs that describe how something is felt or
touched.
Write 2 specific adjectives that describe a taste.
Explanation:

Teacher is to explain how these words that they have brainstormed


creates a setting for a story and how it is possible to write vividly so
that the readers are able to picture in their mind the situation.
Activity:
Materials provided: Mahjong papers and markers.
Teacher refreshes students mind on the plot graph (introduction, rising
action, climax, falling action and conclusion) using PowerPoint slides.
Group Activity:
Students are to be divided into groups.
Students are to narrate a possible situation based on the horror sound
effects played by the teacher. Each group is given 3 minutes per sound
effect. Students are to incorporate the words that their brain stormed
during bell work into their situation.
Sound Effects:
1) Branch breaking
2) Wind howling
3) Car door closing and opening
4) High drum tempo ( chasing)
5) Screaming
Students are then asked to attempt writing the story with the remaining
time. Teachers would pass constructive criticism to students as they
monitor and view students writing on how to improve and progress with
the story.
