THE GIRL IN THE BRIGHT SHADOWS

The bell rings for first period, and everybody rushes to their class at Fedexon Middle
School. Everybody said their goodbyes as they walked down different sides of the hall.
Everybody except for a girl named Scarlett Adams. She was all alone. Her family was in
different places around the world. Scarlett was a exchange student from the UN...But really, she
was on a spy mission. Her real name was Katniss Spencer. Her whole family depended on her
to solve this case. After all, she was at the perfect age to be in seventh grade. In reality, Katniss
was young, smart, sneaky, and slick. However, Scarlett Adams was a girly, bubbly, cute, and
popular city girl that fit in with everybody. As she saw the last person turn away from their locker,
she took out her gadgets, and secretly unleashed her plan.

She then opened her locker, and got her school supplies out, while putting on her
signature bow and bag. As she walked to her classroom, she was perfecting her British accent
and singing her favorite song. Even though she seemed chill and cool on the outside, she could
not concentrate on her schoolwork, because she had also been looking for another undercover
student from a secret organization. This student was planning on stealing private information
from some students to give it to the secret organization. This secret organization was working
on a plan to put the school under their control, but Katniss did not know why. It was her secret
mission, and she knew it all depended on her to save the whole school. As the day went by, she
kept on thinking about who it could have been. One of the gadgets she had were scanner
glasses. Even though she was a secret agent, she was also fashionable.

Scarlett Adams walked down the hall, looking around with her glasses, but she did not
find anything. Disappointed, Scarlett glanced around one more time. Something caught her eye.
It was a poster, and it read THE SNOWBALL DANCE, SATURDAY 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. She
thought Maybe the other secret agent will be there too!

This meant that Scarlett only had four days to get ready for the big day! That night, she
talked to her parents about what had happened to her that day, and they were surprised, yet
puzzled that their little girl had come up with such a grand idea. So, they said that she could do
it! Katniss herself was excited too Even if she was a secret agent, that did not mean that she
could not like fashion or making a statement.
 The next day, it was Wednesday, and her time had been lowered to three days. So, at
lunchtime, she and her squad were talking about the essentials they had to have for the dance.
Then one of her friends, Oliva, suggested that they should all meet up at her house on Friday
for a sleepover. All of the girls at the same time said YES! The other two days went by as fast
as a rollercoaster at a theme park, and it was Friday afternoon. The dismissal bell had just rang,
and the girls; Olivia, Danny, Hailey, Jessica, and of course Scarlett had walked out. See you
later guys!Olivia said as she walked the other direction. All of the girls went their ways excitedly,
thinking about all of the things that they were planning to do later that day.

Ding Dong! Went the bell, at least five times for every girl. Scarlett was the first one to
show up. As soon as Olivia opened the door, She started talking...NONSTOP. After a few
minutes, Olivia could not take her blabbering anymore. SCARLETT! SLOW DOWN AND TELL
ME WHY YOU ARE NERVOUS! That one sentence pretty much informed Scarlett that she had
to stop, and actually think about how she was reacting to everything that was going on. Scarlett
softly spoke IDing Dong! The bell rang again Tell me later.Olivia said. HEY LIV AND
SCAR! All the girls shouted! My mom dropped us off! said Jessica. Lets get this party
started! Olivia shouted. It was 5:30 by the time everybody was settled down, and by 6:00,
Olivias mom has escorted everyone out to the car, and the girls were on their way to the mall.
Scarlett loved to shop, and was pretty much the leader of everyone in her squad. By 6:45 they
had all picked up their cosmetics from Sephora, and were in line to purchase what they got.
While the girls were in line, something caught her eye. Sometimes, The agency would send her
clues about the undercover individual from the opposite side. It was a necklace that was not
there before. So, she went to go take a look at it, and it had her secret code on the barcode that
was on the tag. By that time, the girls called for her name; Scarlett! We are moving on to
Macys! So, she quickly hid the necklace in her pastel blue sweater,and fixed her black bow,
and jogged to her friends. About an hour and a half later, all of the girls had a dress, and were
on their way home, laughing and talking all the way. Well, it sure does seem like you girls had a
great time at the mall! Olivias mom said in a playful voice. YES!!! They all shouted in chorus.
By that time, they were parking in the driveway, and were all unbuckling their seatbelts.

Excitedly, all of the girls rushed out of the car, leaving Mrs. Williams behind. She
chuckled, and followed them in. Girls! I will be preparing dinner! OK! They all said at once.
Giggling, they all ran upstairs, each with their own bags of fashionable items. Scarlett was the
last one to enter the room , and the first one to volunteer to try on her new dress. It had a gold,
sequin top, and a white tulle skirt. When she came out, the girls all sighed. Hailey humorously
said it looks like we found Taylor Swifts little sister. Then, Danny said, Wait, you are missing
something Scarlett! Still thinking about Haileys comment, Scarlett zoomed back to reality,
confused. What? Danny then took the black bow that Scarlett left on the desk, and adjusted it
on her head. There, that looks even better! Danny proudly said. Wait! We need to do your
makeup!Jessica said excitedly. Twenty minutes passed, and Scarlett looked AMAZING. As the
other girls dressed up, Scarlett took out the necklace from her sweater, and opened the locket. It
said MISSION #13: Katniss Spencer 101232: Last seen in the mall with a group of girls.
At that point, Scarletts eyes opened wide. A number of thoughts ran through her mind; It
cant be! Ive been good friends with these girls! Who would betray me! Its the best friends
squad! A voice stopped her thinking. Hey Scarlett! How do I look? It was Olivia. She was
wearing a pink dress with small pearls spread throughout. U look- Girls come and eat! You
can finish doing that tomorrow when the dance really does take place. Mrs. Williams said. The
girls sighed, and quickly changed back to their regular clothes. They all walked to the table, and
quickly ate their chicken tenders and fries.As soon as they were all done, Mrs. Williams said
Go put on a movie Oliva. After 10 minutes of the movie, the girls were all mostly doing
music.lys and texting. It was around 11 when Olivia stopped the movie, and invited the girls to
go back to her room. They all stood up another 20 minutes before passing out in the middle of
their complicated conversation. Everyone except Scarlett. She kept on thinking back to the mall.
Were there any other groups of girls around the area she was in? No. Maybe. Could it be one
of her friends? Stop. She told herself, and went to bed.
The next morning, Scarlett was the first one to wake up. It was around 6, so it was pretty
early for a Saturday. When she got downstairs, she did the honor of making breakfast, just to
keep her mind of of the mission for a while. About two hours later, Scarlett was done preparing
the breakfast , and washing the dishes. She chuckled softly, grinning at the six plates full with
perfectly golden brown pancakes, bacon, yogurt, and fruit. It took about an hour before Danny
came down by herself. I smelled the food. I was too lazy to get up earlier though. said Danny.
About half an hour from then, all of the other girls cane downstairs, and started eating right
away.
Then, Mrs. Williams came down in her PJs. The girls giggled as she lazily slid off the
last stair. Here you go Mrs. Williams. Scarlett said, handing her the plate full with food. Thank
you sweetie! Mrs.Williams said. Your Welcome! Scarlett squealed. It took the girls almost two
hours to finish their meals. By that time, it was around twelve. So, for the rest of the time until
four thirty, the girls took their showers, and searched up different ways they could do their hair.
Then, the girls all got in their dresses, including Scarlett, and also did each others makeup. By
the time all of the girls were ready to go, it was four fourteen, and Mrs. Williams rushed out of
the house, quickly getting into the car. At this point, everybody in the car was taking selfies, but
it was only about thirty minutes until they ot to the school. Well, you girls have fun, and stick
together. I know its a little early, but I need to go to a staff meeting at the bank today.
Mrs.William said. Ok mom, see you later.

The girls all walked into the gym of the school, and they were the few of the first people
there. By the time it was 6:30, The gym was fully packed, and Olivia asked Scarlett Can you
come with me to the office, I need a new calendar. Sure, replied Scarlett, holding onto the
necklace. THey walked across the field, and into the hallway. However, Olivia passed the main
office. Isnt the office right here? Asked Scarlett. Yes Replied Olivia suspiciously. Then,
Olivia turned around, and tried to grab a hold of Scarletts hand. Scarlett quickly pulled her hand
away. YOU ARE ON THE OTHER SIDE!!! Scarlett screamed. It appears I am. said Oliva
with a slight grin. Then, Scarlett tried to make a run for it, but Oliva quickly captured her, and
tied Scarletts hands together. Then, Olivia ran outside, dragging Scarlett, and putting her into
her car. As soon as the car started moving, Scarlett dug into her pocket and found her tracker,
and pressed the emergency button with her nose. Then, two minutes later, a black car with a
ESS logo on the license plate . Scarlett knew that tht it meant the Emergency Spy Society. SO,
She quickly lowered the window, and jumped out with no warning into the sliding door of the
ESS car. By the time that Olivia found out that Scarlett had escaped, it was already too late.

Scarlett however, was then safe from the other side, and was on a break for a month.
She was a bit traumatized after the incident, but she was not ready to give up. A few hours later,
Katnisss parents were there. And apologized for putting too much pressure on her. But she said
I will be Scarlett Adams, and I, KAtniss Spencer will not give up just because of this
situation I want to be Scarlett: The girl in the bright shadows And I will do what is right!
