To whom it may concern

I am writing this letter to express my interest in pursuing the position of Band Director in a middle school
or high school setting. I recently completed my Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education at the
University of North Texas and am currently serving as a substitute teacher in Frisco ISD, as well as .

At UNT, I furthered my musicianship and understanding of leadership in education. My primary

instrument is saxophone, which I played with the Concert Band for four years. I was also a guest musician
with the Symphonic Band on organ. Through my leadership positions in the Green Brigade Marching
Band and Mu Phi Epsilon, I exercised servant-leadership to meet the needs of those I had responsibility
over.

Young music students need strong and knowledgeable instruction to help them cultivate their strengths and
needed improvements through new experiences in music. As a student teacher and substitute, I have
progressed students into better players with instrumental and conducting techniques applied to meet their
specific needs.

Growing musicians also need a teacher who develops excellent character and positive work ethic, actively
collaborates with fellow teachers who hold him accountable, and inspires vision that encourages students to
love expressing their hearts through music. I believe my experiences have prepared me to be such a
teacher. I desire to work with experienced educators to develop young people into quality people playing
passionate music.

As a graduate of Taft High School, I know first-hand the excellent education I received from the Fine Arts
program in Northside ISD. I would love to have the opportunity to visit with you about the opening at
Jefferson Middle School.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely

Benjamin J Hillard
