Power Struggle

You cant catch me, you cant catch me! Exclaimed Tina. But I can and I will. Just
you see my little old sister, think you can hit me and get away with it? exerted
Shayan. Come-on now dear old brother, it was only a light tap with the shovel,
what you should be concerned about is what I did to your room. Yelling as she
runs further and further away. What did you say? A light tap? Let me come and
give you a light tap and see how it feels and my room, well my room is locked,
you couldnt get into my room if you tried Shayan said laughingly. See as you
will, said Tina. Shayan halted to a stop, changing direction towards his room.
Anxiously he twisted the knob on the door, still locked he thought. See Tina he
interjected. Still locked. No sound from Tina. Taking the keys out from his pocket,
he had a sense. Almost a sixth sense. One that senses danger, even with no
indication. The eerie silence frightened him but he was quickly remined about
the security of his home. Ting. The door opened. The room as impeccable as
always. Shayan Awed. It was just as he left it. Not an inch of dust, not one thing
out of place. Just perfect. You see, Shayan didnt have OCD. No, it was never that
extreme. He just liked the tidiness and perfection from everything. A single hair,
was not to be found inside that room of his. Cleaned spick and span every day.
Adoring the silence, he stepped in, only for the door to instantly shut behind him.
The instant realization of what had happened swooped over him. He was locked
in. There was no intruder, there was no man with cloak and dagger. It was the
deceitful mastery of Tina. He had been played; and now he was stuck. The door
clicked. As pointless as a lock was. It symbolized something far greater. The
game was on. Mum would come at 5:39 and release him regardless if he failed.
But that just meant the game was his to win until 5:39. He looked at the clock
above him, 4:06. He had exactly 1 hour and 33 minutes to escape and win. The
tick and tocks registered in his mind. It was a deadly silence with a tock and a
tick at the second. He knew that barging the door would be of no use. She is
much smarter than that. To escape out of the window would just be cowardice;
No, he had to outsmart Tina. So, he began tinkering on his computer. One thing
he needed for sure was knowledge of the outside. He assumed Tina would be
filming on her phone the outside of the door. Simply to replay it when his time
was finally over. So he hacked it. He could now see the door. It was a chair. A
simple chair underneath the door knob. So Shayan thought of a distraction. What
could move Tina away for long enough? Luckily the alarm system installed in the
house was designed so it could be activated from his phone. Before pressing the
alarm, he found the old back scratcher. The back scratcher he was supposed to
throw away but had forgotten to. Pressing the alarm, he saw Tinas face of
agitation and surprise as she ran away, to find the cause of the alarm. Looking at
his watch for how much time was left, it read 5:01. He had just enough time for a
second game. Opening the door by pushing away the chair, he devised a trap. A
trap to pay back the monstrosity he called sister. A tripwire. Not any old tripwire.
No this one was special. It was the fire game played between the two, and the
only one that neither of them had yet cracked. So, like a spiders web on the
stairs, he weaved the rope clad in honey. Now this rope was almost invisible.
Colourless fishing line was the name. As his sister ran up the stairs, she was
trapped. She had been outplayed. Her perfect idea gone to waste. With barely
any time to spare, she started her plan, find out next time on Power Struggle.
