Statement of Intent/Future Plans

The future is often looked at as a scary place filled with things that we as a species, dont

know about. However, it is not something to constantly live in fear of. I have had to learn and be

reminded by this time and time again. Theater and music have always been a strong passion of

mine, and I hope to continue it in the future wherever and whenever I can. Yet, there are still

plenty of jobs in the world that I have not gotten to experience in my life. My intentions for the

future of my professional career are going to be left open. I haven't decided upon which college

that I wish to attend in my later years at this time. I want this year to spend my friends because

likely after high school we will not see each other for a while. plan to take a gap year in-between

graduation then go onto college. But, in order to achieve and search for a great potential and

satisfactory result, I am going to experiment through college classes, get a job, and use my own

personal skills do what I really want to do in life.

Even before my senior year in high school, I had taken college level classes. The first

class I ever took at a college campus was a musical theater class. Even for how typical my first

response to college was, it is not the only experience that I have taken and enjoyed as a college

student. Both as English online classes, I have taken English 001 and 002 to substitute for my

English 11 and English 12 at Buckingham. Currently as I write this document, I am attending

Career Counseling 005 at the Solano community college here in Vacaville. In all of the

educational work, I have received either a B or A grade ranking within the class. Buckingham

Charter does not require that we take these classes as a means to graduate from the campus, as it

is all entirely upon the student. I made the conscious decision to take these classes in order to

gain knowledge as a high school student about the life of college student. I have also visited a

few colleges in these past 4 years. Every year, our Buckingham vocal teacher organizes a class

trip to take one day off from school to go visit a college campus. In my four years I have visited

William Jessup University three times (once as an 8th grade guest), Sacramento State, and

University of Pacific. I have also attended a college night at Will C. Wood where several colleges

from around the local area, came down to give information about each of their respective

schools. I also desire to see the Sonoma campus next as from the outside of its appetence, it

looks to be enticing. College is a subject that I do posses knowledge in and will continue to gain

with in these next few months, as well as gain knowledge about the reality of working.

Admittedly, I have never had a professional paying job before. The closet occupation that

I have had to such a title is babysitting, mowing lawns, pulling weeds, or house sitting for friends

of mine. Within my time of the gap year, my largest hope is achieve a higher-paying job. At the

moment, I have been looking around at residence that require workers for their respective

establishments. For example, Starbucks has considered hiring new employees. I have been given

advice from a relative of mine, that it would be a wise decision to try and get a job before

summer hits as likely it will be blasted with many students recently out of high school who are

looking for new available jobs. I am also experienced with some physical labor. At our home in

the country districts of Vacaville, my father has worked very hard to clean up and fix a lot of the

broken pieces of our home that was originally built in the 1950s. As such, he requested the help

of my brother and myself to help him with such actions. We have constructed burn piles, raked

our large lawn, cleaned out our barn, move wood pieces, painted our house pillars, and even

helped my father rebuild part of the wall to our barn. Hopefully with these skills that I have

adapted over with years, I can make some use of myself and find an employer who will put my

skills to the test.

As stated before, I really do love and enjoy theater and music. To me, music can be the

fluidness that can be achieved through human connection mixed together with the literal sense of

real emotion that a story can bring. However, I am very well aware at how hard it truly is to

make it in that field. Most of the time, this ones that are chosen to achieve such high status as Lin

Manuel Miranda, or even Adele, are based not just on whether or not they have actual talent, but

on being at the right place at the right time, what many to believe as pure luck. I do not expect to

be the next singing sensation of America. This circumstance will likely not happen for me. With

that said, I will still put in my best effort. I will be just as satisfied receiving a small part with

many others while still getting to perform than never getting to try at all. I know that I will need

a stable job that pays for my securities that I need to live off of. I do intend to go to college and

achieve more in my academic success. With the skills that I do possess, I will try, and work hard

to show that this is my passion. I will have to work hard, fight for the positions I want and need in

order achieve success in any field of work and getting the education and knowledge I need in the

first step.

The education of ones own mind, finding stable work that can pay for the expenses in

life, and living personally through passion are all attributes that I will accomplish within the next

few years. Life's a bumpy road and the situations are not always a predictable as they can seem.

Still, the future is what makes of it. It is up to that person to challenge themselves, to reach for

the things they want to accomplish. It only a matter of taking the step forward, that one realizes

their full potential.
