This chapter consists of the preparation of teaching and learning practice, the
teaching practice implementation, and also the implementation
of school staff practice.

A. TEACHING AND LEARNING PRACTICE PREPARATION

Before the implementation of the teaching practice, the PPL participants

have to make a lesson plan for each material. The lesson plans are created

based on the syllabus (Appendix 7). This time, the author got Invitation Letter

and Personal Letter for the subjects to teach. The detail of the lesson plans can

be seen on the Appendix 8. The author consulted the lesson plans several times

to the class teacher. Therefore the author made some revisions more than one

time. The lesson plans have to adjust to the school curriculum and the school

conditions. For that reasons, the observation before the teaching and learning

practice is needed.

B. TEACHING PRACTICE IMPLEMENTATION

The author taught English subject for 6 times in SMA 1 Kalasan. The

materials had been taught are Invitation Letters and Personal Letters. The

24
author use power point presentation, video, and some letters for presenting the

materials. The students activities used some letters, papers, envelopes, and

various school equipment. The author also used name cards and numbers for

the teaching activities. The details of the teaching practice are arranged below:

1. September 19th, 2015

The first teaching practice in SMA Negeri 1 Kalasan was for class XI

Science 5. The author taught Invitation Letter for the first time. New

environment made the author more nervous than ever. The new students

made the more curiosity for the author. The author also wanted to learn

the students characters and learning style to adjust the materials.

The teaching and learning process was smoothly done. The teaching

implementation was equal to the lesson plan activities. However, in the

middle of teaching, some students protested the author delivery. Since the

author used full English to deliver the materials, some students did not

catch the meaning. Therefore the author had to make sure some parts and

taught repeatedly. It was hard for the first meeting. However, this was an

amazing experience. The author learned many things here.

2. September 25th, 2015

The second teaching implementation was for class XI Social 1. The

material is Personal Letter. Since the material is different from the first

25
teaching experience, the author had prepared different lesson plan.

Therefore different activities are added for the second class.

The teaching and learning process was smoothly. The author feel

better than the previous teaching implementation. However, the author

want to make sure about the students point of view. Therefore the author

ask for comments and suggestions from the students. Based on the results,

many of students complain about the author teaching style. They said that

the PPL student teaching is too fast. Some of the students advice to slower

the teaching delivery. Meanwhile the other students asked for more games

during the class. This was a big feedback from the students. The author felt

she was lack in many ways. Therefore the author want to improve more in

her teaching.

This is the third teaching in SMA 1 Kalasan. This day, the author taught

class XI Social 3. The materials were both Invitation Letter and Personal

Letter. This class has English every Wednesday. In this school, many

occasions and holidays occurred on Wednesday, therefore this class is left

by some materials compared the other class. For that reason, the author

combined Invitation Letter and Personal Letter for a day.

26
The author had to decrease some class activities, then combined same

activities. The teaching implementation a bit different from the lesson

plans. The class were hectic too, many combined activities must be done in

two lesson hours. In the other hand, the author is really grateful for the

students cooperation during the class.

4. October 8th, 2015

This day, the author taught class XI Science 4. This is another class

different from the previous three classes. In the authors point of view as

the teacher, this class is rather quite than the previous classes. The

students are easily controlled. This might be happened because the author

already taught for several times. This day we had only Personal Letter to be

learned. The students actively participated during the class. There is a

student came to the class late. Therefore he had to catch up the materials

by rushing the task.

5. October 9th, 2015

This day was the authors second time meeting the class XI Social 1. In

the previous meeting, the students gave the author comments and

suggestions. For that reason, the author more carefully than the previous

teaching practice. The author add more games and video presentation to

27
attract the students attention. The class learned same materials in the

different way and activities.

6. October 10th, 2015

This day also the second meeting with class XI Science 5. The students

much more familiar with the author teaching style. This time, the students

learned about Personal Letters. Even they have different material than the

previous meeting, they are able to accept the materials easily. No more

complains to the teacher. Whenever they need an assistance, they asked it

privately.

C. IMPLEMENTATION OF SCHOOL STAFF PRACTICE
