THE TERRACOTTA Faade

ArGeTon
ArGeTon TERRACOTTA Faade

ArGeTon was developed as a back-ventilated faade

cladding made from clay at the beginning of the 1980s.
The aim was to create a timeless modern faade with the
unmistakable character of clay as a natural product.

Today, almost 30 years later, the name

ArGeTon stands for quality, aesthetics and
creativity. The success story is based on a
systematic and future-oriented product de-
velopment, service-oriented sales and sys-
tematic quality assurance of a large group.
ArGeTon is backed by Wienerberger AG
the largest manufacturer of bricks in the world.

The building of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg the winner of two awards was
clad with a chocolate brown ArGeTon faade.

The success is based on dialogue and expertise, which is why in future too you will be advised exclusively by experts. We prepare the best
solution for every project working in cooperation with you. We look forward to the tasks and challenges you have in store for us.

Sustainable elegance

The ArGeTon faade enhances new and modern buildings

and lends refurbished properties a contemporary character.
Combined with steel, glass or wood, it is elegant, natural and
timelessly perfect. ArGeTon faades also keep their good
looks for decades:

A clever water runoff system avoids the accumulation

of dirt.
The ceramic colours remain constant and strong even when
exposed to tough weathering conditions.
The faade is acknowledged to be particularly fire-resistant.
The joint profile of the faade protects against lateral shift of
the tile-plates, the penetration of impact rain and rattling of
the places in the wind.
Production

In a roller kiln conceived especially for this purpose, the extruded tile-
plates are fired at high temperatures, individually and carefully coordi-
nated depending on their respective shades.

The exact dimensioning of the ArGeTon tile-plates is guaranteed by a

special calibrating facility the essential element of the precise joint grid
which lends the faade its overall impression.

TESTED SECURITY: The ArGeTon

faade is ball-shooting
resistant

ArGeTon GmbH was the first manufacture of ceramic faade tile-plates

to pass the test for ball-throwing safety in compliance with DIN 18032-3.
The high strength of the ArGeTon tile-plate and the new B/85 fixing
clips, which can be attached to the carrier rails without additional tools,
are impressive features. The ArGeTon faades easily maintains its con-
dition, making the ceramic fa de particularly suitable for use on public
buildings such as schools.

ARCHITECTURAL tour

The sand-coloured iridescent engobe surface is responsible for

the animated structure of this administrative building in Gooiland,

Netherlands.

The special glazed blue colour of the tile-plates lends an

individually cool and elegant look to this modern admin-

istrative complex in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

The two buildings stand as a landmark in Klaipedia, Lithuanias port on the Baltic. The warm

and strong natural red of the faade creates a visual bridge to the roofs of the old city.

Characteristic element of the spacious residential development

in Bulgarias Black Sea coast in Lozenec is the pearl-white

ceramic faade combined with typical wood elements.

12 13
Tradition and the modern are elegantly combined

in Dongen, Netherlands: the lightness of the

volcanic grey shaded faade reflects the colour

shade of the old mill.

Architects chose faade tile-plates in natural red for an administrative building in

Shanghai, China, thereby creating a harmonious and aesthetic bridge between

modern and old architecture.

The combination of curved Barro elements and glass lend

the business complex in Constance, Germany, a visually

attractive transparency. The natural red colour successfully

creates a link to the historical adjacent property.

Noble, pure and transparent the volcanic grey faade

of the administrative building in Silkeborg, Denmark.

Aluminium substructure, vertical

Aluminium T substructure
with vertical carrier rails

Cleats of aluminium are attached to the existing wall by

means of approved pins in horizontal centre distance,
and with the spacing necessary for structural stability. The
occurrence of fixed and sliding points must be ensured here
in compliance with DIN 18516, Part 1.

Vertical aluminium carrier profiles are inserted into the cleats (a special clamping
spring enables exact adjustment). After alignment of the carrier profile, it is attached
with a blank rivet. The T profiles are pre-holed preferably to the tile-plate pattern.

ArGeTon tile-plates are attached to the substructure with special clips at four points
without being forced in, by means of self-tapping stainless-steel screws or aluminium
hollow-drawn rivets. The procedure starts with the bottom row.
