"For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he" (Proverbs 23:7).
W e respond to every situation of life according to our personalities. For example,
if youre a woman youll be expected to respond to situations of life as a woman, not as a man. In the same vein, when you get a new job, you want to know your responsibilities. The understanding of your responsibilities will also determine the extent of your authority. Lets look at Jesus for a moment. The Bible tells us tax collectors came to Him, but Jesus knew He wasnt supposed to pay. But then He said, Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee (Matthew 17:27), Hallelujah! He knew who He was and He was never confused about it. There was also a time He stood in front of the grave and called a four-day old corpse back to life. Prior to this, He made a remarkable statement based on His conviction of His personality: I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? (John 11:25-26). Our language is based on our understanding. You speak according to what you know and you can only know what youve been informed of. Your decisions are based on the information you have. A beggar begs because hes a beggar in his mind. Everything you do is based on your understanding or perception of your personality. So you can see why its so important to know what God says about us in His Word.
