Dear Parents,
Over the mid-winter break your champion will complete a Book Report Fair Project. The purpose of this project is
to encourage students to read more books, to think critically, to make inferences, while showing off their creative
side. Students will create a visual and oral presentation, and answer questions about the book they have read.
Students have the option of selection a fiction, or a nonfiction book.

Grading System
There will be 3 grades for this project
0-10 points for the written part
0-10 points for the Oral presentation part (3 minute presentation)
0~10points for the visual overall presentation
'" Parents are welcomed to help. However the work must be completed by each
champion independently.

Fiction
Students are expected to ...
1. Read a fiction book
2. Describe the main character(s) in the book. (State the character traits by inferring what kind of person they
are based on how they think, feel, or act)
3. Pull evidence from the story that give you clues as to what the main character (or one of the main
characters) is like
4. Describe the setting
5. Describe the plot (problem and solution) of the story
6. How does the main character's feelings change throughout the story?

"Who is the (main character) ____ ? Tell me about his/her personality, likes, dislikes, and problems.
Use the evidence you've marked with sticky notes to support your response. Remember to cite the page
numbers where you found the evidence."

Questions to consider:

If you were going to buy a gift for you character, what would you buy them? Explain why?
If you were going to invite your friend to join you in an activity, what activity would it be? Explain why would
you choose that activity?
If you were to invite your character to dinner, what would you serve them? Explain why?
