Inertia
Written by Pavol Matula

Logline
Story of rise and fall of young Thaddeus Thawne II, later known as the supervillain
Inertia, who finds himself in a war he does not fully understand.
Young Thaddeus Thawne II goes on a journey of seeking his destiny, which leads
him to becoming the supervillain known as Inertia.
-

Synopsis
(with slightly original, non-canonic backstory)
Thaddeus Thawne II is a teenager living in the early 26th century (or mid to late
23rd, if we go by CWs Eobard Thawne being from late 22nd) and despite the
world being in a great place right now, he does not live a happy live.
Since his birth (or creation - he is a clone of Bart Allen mixed with Thawne genes)
he has been caught up in the middle of a centuries-long war between Allen/Flash
family and the Thawne family. His father, Thaddeus I is a secret son of the
infamous evil speedster known as the Reverse Flash or Professor Zoom - Eobard
Thawne himself.
Eobard (thanks to time travel) helped Thaddeuss father, The President of the
Central Megalopolis, to raise him so he can fullfil his destiny - be the end of the
Allen/Flash family.
Eobard also helped President Thawne with his creation - he mixed, back then just
a newly born, Bart Allens DNA with his and Presidents so that Thaddeus II would
become the weapon they want.
The story starts when Thaddeus II turns 15, an age when kids in his time become
adults. An age, when he has to take on the Thawne legacy.

Later on, the story will take us to see his journey of becoming Inertia, fighting
Bart Allen and more.

Story
Pilot
In a futuristic city (in a distant future - early 26th or mid to late 23rd century),
two speedsters are chasing each other. One with yellow lightning and one with
red. The one with yellow lightning is Bart Allen, or as the world knows him, the
Impulse. And he is chased by his own nemesis, the Reverse Impulse.
They get to some sort of a stadium, where Impulse uses a special move - stoping
and repositioning his molekules so fast, that he faces the oposite way without
having to turn around. This move surprises Reverse Impulse, who gets knocked
down.
Impulse takes RIs mask off to finally find out who his nemesis is (he even makes
a snarky comment about it). But what he sees shocks him beyond belief. He sees
himself. Reverse Impulse looks just like him. Except RIs slightly brighter hair,
they are identical. RI smirks and moves for an attack on Impulse, while he is still
in shock. They clash in a bright light of an explosion. Fade to black and:
Intro:
My name is Thaddeus Thawne II and I should be the fastest man alive.
I was enginereed that way by my father, the President of Central Megalopolis,
and his father, Eobard Thawne, the Reverse Flash.
They stole the DNA of Bart Allen to clone a speedster of their own,
me.
At the age of 15, when people in my time become adults,
I was forced to take on the Thawne legacy and go destroy someone I dont even
know.
I am the Reverse Impulse.

Two days ago, someone with red lightning is thrown on the ground in what looks
like a training room. The man thrown is a 15 year old Thaddeus Thawne II, the
Reverse Impulse. He has been training with his grandfather, Eobard Thawne,
the Reverse Flash himself (now both without their costumes).
Eobard is not pleased with Thadds skills. He reminds him that tommorow they
are moving on Impulse and that he needs to be ready for that. Thadd argues that
he is doing everything he can, which even more enrages Eobard, who says that
he needs to work harder. That he was enginereed for this mission and so no
failure is acceptable. This hurts and enrages Thadd who then tries to hit Eobard,
but he dodges and punches him in the stomach.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

You know what happens when you let the anger take the better of you?! he sort
of yells at him, while still beig cold and calm-ish and then continues: You get
thrown into darkness of time by your enemy!
Thadd looks at him and says: You mean by YOUR enemy, right? Cause I dont
even know him!
Eobard runs up to him and puts his vibrating hand inside his chest. Thadd
screams from pain and when Eobard pulls his hand out, Thadd falls on his knees.
Eobard: Be careful what youre saying Thaddeus. Or your father wont be able
to protect you. Trainings over. he says and then leaves in a flash.
Thadd gets up with tears in his eyes and an exhausted exhale.
FLASHBACK to when Thadd was younger. His father Thaddeus I, the President of
the Central Megalopolis, is talking to him about how great of a future he is going
to have once he turns 15 and becomes an adult. The future where he stands side
by side with Eobard.
Thadds present. He is lying on his bed and he says to himself. Great future
indeed...
The next day he comes to the main hall where his father is allready waiting for
him. He looks very proud. Then a time breach opens and Eobard (in his RF suit)
runs in and gives Thadd a gift - a Flash ring with his Reverse Impulse suit in it to
take on the legacy.
Thadds father is extremely happy and grateful for that, while Thadd thinks that
it is stupid and useless, which his father tries to ignore.
Thadd suits up and Eobard says: Its time. Then they leave.
Thadds first mission consists of wreaking havoc in Central Megalopolis to lure
Impulse out. Then he will fight him and, as Eobard says maybe even kill him if
you get lucky, but I doubt that.
The first thing is to put a building of Central Bank Institute on fire, after which
Eobard vibrates the ground to create a small earthquake in the area. Then he
leaves Thadd on his own, watching from the distance.
First force to show up is the CM Police Guards, special units, that keep the CM
safe. They are equiped with laser stun-guns, so that they can stop any criminal or
wrong-doer.
Thadd is instructed to attack them and so he does, but he hesitates and does not
kill them, just hurts them, which leads into one of the CM Police Guard members
to shoot him with the stun-gun.
This makes Thadd stop in mid-run and then fall badly. The Guard then switches
his gun from stun mode to blast mode and shoots Thadd, who is trying to shake
(vibrate) the stun off.
The laser blast flies across the giant plaza, when Impulse arrives and moves
Thadd out of the blasts way. He does not realize who or what that is, because his
focus is on the building on fire. He then goes and tells the Guard not to kill
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

anybody while he is gone and proceeds with rescuing and saving people and then
putting out the fire.
Thadd is shaken by the fact that Impulse just saved him. Impulse, the man he is
supposed to destroy just saved his life without hesitation. That goes against
everything his father and, especially, Eobard told him about the Allen/Flash
family. He remembers Eobard saying that they are pretentious heroes who hate
them, which does not seem like true after this.
Eobard gets to him, picks him up and tells him to attack Impulse while he is busy.
Thadd says that Impulse just saved him and he does not want to go kill him
because of that. That enrages Eobard, who then tells Thadd that he should be
ashamed of letting Impulse save him and that if he does not do as he says, he is
going to have a bad time.
This scares Thadd who then runs inside the building to fight Impulse. The fight
takes them outside and then running through the Megalopolis. Everytime they
clash they seem to be equally matched and every time the clash ends with a tie.
At one point, after another clash, Thadd gets thrown on the ground and he stays
there a little longer (purposefully, because he does not want to fight Bart
anymore and is tired after the battle) Impulse leaves, because the battle took
a tool on him.
Back home, Eobard beats Thadd, telling him what a failure he is and what
a shame it is that he let Impulse go. Thadds father stops this lesson saying
that it was his first day and that it is allowed not to succeed. Eobard then says
that those two found each other and that they are disgrace to the Thawne name.
Then he leaves with his last words being Ill be back.
Thadds dad is ashamed and hurt by Eobards words, while Thadd is mad at
them both. And at himself too, even though he does not know if he is mad
because he failed or because he wanted to let Bart go. He saved him from the
laser blast. Was he suposed to kill him after that? If so, why?
The next day Thadd is thinking about his childhood and about how Eobard was
the real influence, how his life was all about what Eobard wanted and how his
father just allowed him to dictate his sons life. Like if he was just a pawn in
Eobards game.
Well, fake sons, since he is the clone of Bart mixed with Thawne genes
(therefore slightly lighter hair) and enfused with the negative speedforce. He still
does not know why they cloned Bart and not Barry, Eobards centuries long
nemesis. Maybe he finds out some day.
In the evening, Eobard comes to finish what they started. Now by a direct attack
on Bart during his regular evening safety run across the CM.
The opening scene happens and after the explosion, they are thrown away. Thadd
gets scared and leaves, while Bart is thinking about what just happened.
As he is talking to his family about this, he says: Two identical speedsters clash
and the energy from natural and negative speedforce create an explosion. Time
to talk to a man who took the speedforce to a whole new level.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

Meanwhile, Thadd starts researching the speedforce, especially the negative

aspects of it and how to disrupt it. How to take it away. Then he finds something,
smirks and says: Game over Eobard.
Fade to black/Lightning transition.
Post-credit scene. Few years from our present. A shot of red-dressed Wally West
- the one we know from The Flash, but a bit older (late 20s-30), with very bright
white/blue-ish lightning and a DCs Rebirth-like suit (last page) - ends the pilot.
-

Season 1
After the pilot, Eobard is mad at Thadds inability to defeat Impulse, which has
cost them the chance of changing a very important point in history - the point in
which Barts and Wallys paths are forever crossed. Thadd says that they can still
go after him, if he wants them to, after which Eobard says: Sure and I will end up
saving your ass from that West kid pretender. Youre not ready. We will lure him
back in here.
Their plan is the same - create a big catastrophe that would lure Bart back in this
time period. But now they have a new oposing force to face - the Anti-Speedster
Unit (ASU), that Bart allerted about new evil speedster before he left.
The ASU consists of specially equiped men, who have time-disrupting devices on
their suits, which make everything in their close circle (30-40 centimeters wide
field all around them) equally fast (speed depends on time and when time is
disrupted, speed has no meaning). That is enough for them to be able to fight
Thadd in close combat. They are well trained and so they can spot him when he
enters the field and slows down.
Thadd has trouble beating them and so he runs way, just to be beaten by Eobard
for failing. Then Eobard shows him how to fight the ASU even within the field - by
creating disruptive motion (vibrating himself between two places), that confuses
the ASU, giving him an advantage.
In the end of the second episode we learn what Eobards plan is - he wants
Thadd to kill Bart and replace him, so that they can destroy the Flash/Allen family
from the inside, or so it seems like that is his goal.
Eobard and Thadd will train, which Thadd wont enjoy because of how brutal
Eobard is, and theyll be going into the Megalopolis, causing problems (put
buildings on fire, destroy bridges, create small earthquakes by vibrating the
ground, endangering, hurting or even killing citizens of Central Megalopolis, etc.),
which Eobard would leave to Thadd to resolve when the ASU comes in.
One time Eobard has to come to rescue Thadd from an ASU, because he is still
not as good as he should be and the ASU can still find a way to defeat him. This
makes the ASU realize that Reverse Impulse is working with the Reverse Flash
himself and so they send Bart a message across time.
Meanwhile, Bart and Wally are training in real life, operating as partners (like
Barry and Wally used to), fighting crime and metahumans together.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

It took Wally some time to trust this guy from the future, since Bart did not tell
him who he really is (only that his name is Bart, leaving the Allen part out) in
order to not mess up the future with too much spilled knowledge.
Also, we learn why Bart went to Wally and not Barry - since Wally became The
Flash, he obtained the ability to steal someone elses speed, or momentum,
which basically freezes them in statue-like form for a while, or untill he returnes
them their motion. But he immidiately says to Bart that this trick does not work
on negative speedforce users such as Reverse Flash or Black Flash. Or Reverse
Impulse, as Bart states after the debate about Wallys powers. Then he jokes that
But it somehow works on non-speedforce users, like Supergirl, which is nice.
In Thadds time, Eobard teaches him more about the negative speedforce and
how can they use it to partially manipulate the flow of time, making them
temporarly even faster - speed boost, that allows them to gain advantage in a
fight.
This new skill becomes a great asset to Thadd, who over time learns to handle
anything the ASU has for him. Also, this knowledge helps him with a mission of
his own, which is a device, that will disrupt the negative speedforce.
Thadd has now more freedom, because he is doing well, and he is enjoying it.
Eobard is not as brutal since he is a quick study and he has seemingly found his
place and comfort in his life. But that is not the case and Thadd is stilll struggling
with who he is and what should he do.
Then everything changes. Bart gets the message and comes home, so he can
also protect his city, not just its past version. He and Wally said goodbyes to each
other with the promise that they will see each other again. But now Bart is back
and Thadd is curious about how his regular life is, so he starts watching him and
his family.
The goodnes and love he sees in that family, the hapiness when Bart returned,
and the overal loving enviroment further confuses Thadd, who realizes that he
does not believe in the Thawne legacy, that he would love to live his life without
the dictatorship of Eobard. He realizes that even though Eobard is not so brutal or
controling anymore, he is still doing everything he wants him to and that it is
because he is scared of him and of what he could do to him.
But watching Barts life makes him happy and he always forgets how his own life
is not really his when he watches the Allens. It makes him happy, jeleaus and
angry at the same time that he does not have that. This makes him work harder
on executing Eobards plan - if he can kill Bart, he can steal his life and by that
get the same love as he does. That becomes his motivation.
He starts following Bart to the past (since he is making trips to Wallys Flash time
to help), so that he can see the two interact.
And Eobard is with him, teaching him how to fight them and read their strategies
based on their crime fighting adventures. Thadd does only the neccessary to fool
Eobard into thinking he is embracing his destiny, while still working on his device.
But Thadd realizes something while watching Bart and his family - he could never
become him. He sees how he behaves, talks and all, but he is not Bart and so he
can not replace him. Not within his family, they would never accept him. And he
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

would never be able to trick them, since he is missing something they all have.
This realization makes him desperate and suicidal - he goes to fight Bart in Wally
s Flash time.
Then we get a big battle - Eobard (who does not want Thadd to die, he needs him
for his own goal) vs. Wallys Flash and Reverse Impulse vs. Impulse. Eobard and
Wally are pretty much equals (or it seems that way in the begining), while Barts
and Thadds battle takes them on a tour across Central City.
Their battle ends with Thadd having the opportunity to kill Bart, but he chooses
not to. He would be executing Eobards plan in the first place and he decides not
to do that. Instead of that he leaves this time, disappearing in a time breach.
Also, Wally was able to defeat Eobard and put him in prison.
But Thadd does not get a lot of Eobard-free time, since at some point he gets out
and comes back to Thadds time.
Thadd then comes to Wally and Bart with a proposition - he asks them to help
him set up a trap for Eobard.
They do not believe him. Obviously. They think he is playing them, even though
he explains to them, that the life of Reverse Impulse is not the one he wants.
That he did not kill Bart back when he had the chance because he did not want
to. But they are not convinced and that enrages him and he leaves them saying
that maybe Eobard was right about them being just pretentious heroes.
Thadd is left setting up the trap alone, while trying not to make Eobard
suspicious. He is still being Reverse Impulse and he now has a duo of enemies,
first being Impulse and second being ASU with a new member, who has Vibe-like
powers. They and Bart teamed up to put an end to the Thawne madness.
Thadd realizes that he can use them as an advantage - Eobard will not, despite
everything, let them kill him which means he can get him into that battle and
then use his device, that we find out is not just a disroptor, but it is made to lock
on a speedforce trail and then feeding off of it until the source is gone - basically
disintegrating the speedster.
He made it based on the knowledge of the speedforce he has (mostly from
Eobard) and the technical capabilities of his advanced time. He is still working on
it though, making sure it will work on 100%.
In the finale the final showdown between Reverse Impulse and Impulse with the
ASU takes place.
Thadd purposefully loses, so Eobard would have to come rescue him and when
that happens and Eobard passes him by in order to get Impulse, Thadd turns on
the device and throws it in Eobards direction, hoping it would lock onto his SF
trail.
But because he threw it with unintentional use of his powers, the device locks
onto him and starts consuming his SF energy.
To the surprise of all (including Eobard), Thadd is slowly and painfully
disintegrated in green and yellow glowing particles that are sucked into the
device.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

Then the devise explodes from all the energy, creating green/yellow light. They
all hide from it and then Eobard leaves, while Bart and the ASU are still in shock
of what just happened.
In the end we get to see why Eobard wanted Thadd to become, or at least kill,
Bart - at some point in time, Bart becomes The Flash and he accidentaly absorbs
the speedforce in its entirety, meaning that no one can tap into it as long as he is
alive. This makes it impossible for a speedster to travel to that time, because he
would become powerless. Eobard, who wanted to get something from that time
period, destroys the computer screen on which he read that report and then
grunts: Why couldnt he just do it?!
Fade to black/lightning transition to a post credit scene.
In a storm of green lightning with some light yellow glow Thadd reappears
(reassembles), his Reverse Impulse suit is torn and he now has completely blond
hair - Inertia is born.
End of the first season.

Season 2
New intro:
My name is Thaddeus Thawne II
and I was enginereed to be the fastest man alive.
After being forced to take on the Thawne legacy
and multiple battles with my counterpart, Bart Allen
I decided to quit this life and free myself by killing Eobard Thawne,
the Reverse Flash.
But my plan didnt work and I was disintegrated just to return as something else,
as someone else.
I am Inertia.
Seasons begining:
Some bar, Wallys Flash time. People are drinking and having fun, arguing about
football or just regularly chatting.
At one table, there are four people laughing. One of them is Thaddeus Thawne II,
with blond hair and clothes that match the time period. Everything sees normal.
Thadd gets up to go to the toilet and as he goes there, we see Wally watching
him.
When Thadd leaves the toilet, Wally speeds up and takes him outside, into a back
alley, so that they can talk. Thadd is not happy to see Wally. Wally asks what is
his agenda, why is he here.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

Thad replies that he is here to live his life. That he got a second chance for
a more meaningful life and that so he is living it. He is done with the Thawne
legacy and he wants to live peacefully in a time period he likes. He does not want
to be just a pawn in Eobards game, he does not want him to dictate his life. That
is why he tried to kill him, to get free, but as he thinks, being officially dead is
good as well. Wally already knows what happened to him, because Bart told him.
Wally understands, but does not believe him, but Thadd gets emotional trying to
explain that he never wanted to be Eobards pawn, he often did not even know
why is he even fighting. So he used this as an opportunity to quit, get away from
Eobard and leave that life behind.
Then he asks Wally to believe him and he even uses the word please.
Wally is stunned, this speech really got to him. But he is still not sure if he can
trust him, so he says that if that is true, he will let him be, but also he will be
keeping an eye on him. Thadd agrees to that and thanks for the chance. Then he
reapets that he just wants to live his own life.
Then a time breach opens and Reverse Flash runs past them, taking Thadd with
him. Wally goes after them and he catches up with RF on a big plaza. He (Wally)
then throws him into a wall, damaging it badly.
He asks Thadd if he is allright, but Eobard gets up and yells that none of them is
going to be. Thadd yells back, saying that Eobard will never get him, that he
(Thadd) is finished (with that life). Eobard tells him that he thought so as well
after what happened, but then he found out he is still alive. That is why he
started to search for him. To give him a second chance, which he should
appreciate.
Back off Thawne, you see the kid doesnt want anything with you. says Wally.
What do you care West? Hes your enemy. says Reverse Flash.
Im done with that life! screams Thadd.
Wally then steps before him and says: If you wanna take him, youre gonna
have to go through me.
Eobard smirks and runs towards them. Wally gets his suit out of the ring and right
before they clash, Eobard creates a speed mirage, which allows him to go after
both of them .
This allows Eobard to grab Thadds hand and when that happens, Thadds body
stats emiting green/yellow lightning beams and he then punches Eobard with full
force.
Eobard is thrown away and while in flight, he merges with his Wally-fighting self,
surrounded by red lightning.
Thadd growls: I told you, Im done with you! and then runs towards him.
This all takes a tool on Eobard, so he gets beaten by Wally, who lets him lying on
the ground, but then Thadd comes in and starts beating him even more.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

Wally then tries to stop him, but Thadd speed-punches him, so he gets thrown
a bit away. Then Thadd continuous to beat Eobard, who can not get a grasp on
getting out of the fight.
Wally then interferes again, just so Thadd can hit him hard, releasing some of the
green lightning beams into him. This stuns Wally, as his mind is thrown to the
past, back when he was still just learning how to use his powers.
Thadd is surprised by this, as he feels and sees where he sent Wally, but he uses
the fact, that Wally became rookie again, to knock him out.
When he turns back to Eobard, he is already on his feet (barely) and then he
disappears in a time breach and Thadd runs after him. Wally is still on the ground,
going through his beginnings as Kid Flash.
Thadd does not find Eobard and so he goes to his time, where he creates his own
suit (the Inertia one, see last page).

At first, the season focuses on Thadd becoming Inertia, a name he chooses

because he believes that nothing can shift or change his path, as he is moving on
it with 100% focus and nothing can stop him in that, which the definition of
Inertia - resistance of any physical object to any change in its state of motion,
covers pretty well in his eyes. That is where he is headed. But using his powers
also brings him pain, as if he was being disintegrated all over again when he uses
his powers to his limits.
Thadd creates this new identity of his and then goes on a hunt for Eobard. He
searches for him across all the time and space, untill he crossess paths with
Legends of Tomorrow. They find him because he made some aberrations along
the way.
But Legends are not the only ones to go after him. There is also Black Flash, who
is appearing and disappearing as Inertia is traveling through time, making it hard
for him to do anything, with BlackFlash at his tail. He is scared, that if he does
something, he will come to get him.
He then decides that Eobard is not worth the risk and that he can always get him
when he is fighting the Flash (possibility of crossovers with The Flash), so he
shifts focus on the second person that made his life miserable - the very own
prototype of his, Bart Allen, who started to call himself Kid Flash to continue the
legacy of Flash/Kid Flash partnership (his new suits concept design is on last
page).
He fights Bart on multiple occasions, both in the future and Wallys Flashs time.
At one point, Thadd asks himself if what he is doing - fighting Bart and making his
life harder, is not what Eobard wanted from him. He thinks about it and then
comes to a conclusion, that if Bart and Wally were really good, they would have
helped him stop Eobard and that he would not have been disintegrated and put
through suffering everytime he uses his powers more.
Wally has now some respect for him, after what he did to him. He analyzed how
he did that and came to conclusion that Inertia can, along with super speed,
manipulate the flow of time and he can do it in two ways.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

The first way is warping the time around him, making him look even faster and
the second way is manpulating someone elses personal time flow, meaning he
can move person backwards on the persons timeline (as an oposite/reverse of
the regular time flow - going forward on the persons timeline) - which he did to
Wally in the premiere - he moved him back on his timeline to the point he was
not as skilled as he is now.
He does this to few people, like a scientist on the edge of discovering something
big, which sets him back multiple years untill he relearns everything he used to
know.
Or a doctor in the middle of a surgery, making him useless there and causing the
death of the patient.
At least speedsters have the advantage of speedforce bringing them back to their
selves after some time (hours, days - depends on how far he sends them). But it
is still a very dangerous ability to have.
Inertia finds satisfaction and purpose as Barts nemesis and Wallys rival. Also,
he is finally able to accept his victory - he earned his name, he is on the right
path and he can not be shifted out of it.
He creates a lot of problems for those two, tirelessly making their life worse. This
reminds him that that is what Eobard wanted from him in the first place, which
makes him more mad and unpredictable. And, also, not that focused on the
battle.
We even get full on Bart versus Thadd fight, where Wally lends his speed to Bart,
making him and Thadd more than just equally matched, which results in Thadd
losing and having to escape.
Thadd then starts working with the Rogues of that time, even though he is just
using them as distraction, as a part of the game. And Rogues do not like that, but
they can use the power of a speedster.
But their partnership will not last long, since Inertia betrays them to achieve his
own goal - having a shot at killing Bart.
And he would have succeeded, if it was not for a team of heroes, led by Barrys
Flash and Green Arrow, who come to this time after Wally called them for help.
He fights Barry and the heroes, but because Rogues are there as well, only Barry
and Green Arrow can focus on him.
The battle ends with a tie, where all three sides (heroes, Rogues and Inertia) are
exhausted and Inertia disappears for a while.
He uses the time off to regain his strength and to better test his powers (on
innocent people) and meditate about his life, while being chased by Bart, who he
has some clashes during this time.
All the clashes end in a tie and even though Bart is using every techinque Wally
has taught him, but he still can not beat him.
Not alone.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

Then, in the finale, Thadd returns and fights the whole Flash family - Barry, Wally
(Kid Flash version), Jay, Jesse and Bart.
This does not go that well for him, even though he is able to paralyze Jay and
Jesse by moving them back on their timelines.
He partially does that to Barry, but he is able to save himself from paralyzing
damage.
In the end, Wally, Bart and, in a way, Barry defeat him and put him in anti-meta
prison.
In the post-credit scene, Inertia (with long hair and a beard) is released by
someone with comic book Hunter Zolomons powers (time manipulation),
because that someone (lets call him New Zoom) needs help fighting Wallys Flash
and Barts Kid Flash.
End of Season 2.

Season 3
Again, new intro:
My name is Thaddeus Thawne II
and I was enginereed to be the fastest man alive.
After finding my own path,
Ive battled with countless heroes,
even the whole Flash family.
But I was defeated and put in prison
untill a mysterious man named New Zoom
released me.
I am Inertia.

This New Zoom, after feeing him from he prison, shows Inertia (who now has his
hair cut and beard shaven) that he has approached the fighting with Wally and
Bart in a different way - by actually partnering up with the Rogues as equals, not
just using them. They help each other with everything they want to do, even as
small thing as robbing a bank or a jewelery store.
And even though Inertia is not too sold on the partnership with Rogues and to be
honest, neither are they (but NZ promised them that he will make it work), but he
realizes that NZ saved him annd allowed him to continue on his path, so he
decides to join. Plus, he is also intrigued to know who this New Zoom is, so
working close with him and the Rogues has its perks after all.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

Inertia is impressed by NZs power, time manipulation, because he himself can

partially do that. But NZ does not know how to put someone back on their
timeline, which makes Inertia valuable asset.
New Zoom can easily take on Wallys Flash, often using Rogues as distraction -
Wally can not fight them and New Zoom at the same time. If it was not for Barts
Kid Flash, he could have been dead already. But now they have Inertia, so he can
take on Bart.
This creates an interesting situation - they have the power to kill both, or at least
one of them, but New Zoom does not allow that. He honors the ways of Old
Rogues - not killing the heroes, or anyone if it is not absolutely neccessary.
And as Inertia starts to observe, he always makes the situation in a way, that
killing the heroes is not neccessary. As if he was doing his best to let them live.
This makes Inertia look into NZs past - using reports of his activity, finding out
when he first appeared. It was few days after a big New STAR Labs explosion. He
decides to go to the time of explosion to find out how NZ was created.
The day of the explosion a woman takes a dead body into the New STAR Labs,
the dead body of the man who would later become the New Zoom. It seems like
she wants to save her husband by conducting a revolutionary experiment -
creating a time breach and using it to revert injuries. A technique/procedure, that
Inertia knows was never successfully done, since no can could ever control ones
personal time flow. No one, except him.
The experiment creates a time breach energy explosion, that does two oposite
things to those two - the man gets the ability to alter the flow of time relative to
himself, making him capable of moving in time at different speeds and thus
making him look extremely fast, while his wife becomes the exact oposite - she
can not move in time at all, making her stuck in the moment of unconsciousness
right after the explosion. She is not dead, she is just frozen in that moment in
time.
This tragedy makes the man believe, that it would not happen if the Flash was
a true hero, willing to risk anything to save peeople, especially the ones he
knows. He then makes his New Zoom costume, so that he can be the Flashs
nemesis, driving and pushing him to be a better hero.
Inertia thinks that this kind of thinking is crazy, but he is also interested to see
what happened before all that.
So he goes further back in time and sees that the man was a police specialist,
a metahumen/Rogues hunter (hunter being the important word - New Zoom is
based on comic version of Hunter Zolomon) and profiler, who went to a secret
research facility of one scientist, because he believed that the scientist is
experimenting on metahumans.
He gets to the facility, but the mission goes south as the scientist releases his
most powerful lab rat - the super smart telepathic gorrila, Grodd himself.
As Grodd escapes, he brutally injures this hunter, which causes his death in
the hospital after a few days - the injuries were too severe and serious that he did
not make it.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

This deeply saddens his wife and their friends, Wally West and Linda Park (it could
still kind of work with her being Wallys girlfriend/wife, or just call her Linda West
and make her someone different). The mans wife then begs Wally to go back in
time and save him from Grodd, but Wally refuses to do that, because he knows
what could happen to the timeline if he did.
He tells her that he is devastated, but that they will have to live with this tragedy,
as there is no safe way of saving him.
This leads the wife to go to New STAR Labs, where she works, to conduct the
experiment and thus creating the New Zoom.
Inertia is having fun watching the NZs origin and then decides to go back to the
current time (meaning the current time of the show, from where he left to see
the NZs origin) with this knowledge and a plan to use it in his advantage.
He spills NZs plan to Rogues (the fact that he just wants to make the Flash
a better hero) and he tries to convince them that because of that, he does not
care about them and that when he is done giving the Flash a lesson, he will
probably help him get them to jail.
Some of the Rogues think that Inertia is just crazy and they do not believe him,
mostly because they still remember his betrayal. But some of them think he has
a point and therefore they join him in his crusade of using Zoom to achieve their
goal and then destroying him.
This split creates a conflict between the Rogues, as they start arguing about
whose side they should be on. The conflict between them gets NZs attention,
but he does not find out the real reason of it (they tell him that it is because some
of them do not want to honor the Old Rogues by letting the heroes live). Which is
kind of true anyway, as that becomes a big part of their conflict.
This leads to a Rogue War-like conflict during a huge two part finale, where Inertia
is leading a group of Rogues to kill The flash, Kid Flash and New Zoom, while the
other group of Rogues, led by New Zoom, is there to stop them.
Flash and Kid Flash get stuck in the middle of this conflict and because they do
not want them do destroy the city by fighting, they try to stop the conflict. They
even get help from Jay and Jesse, the Flash family - at the end of the first part.
Inertia is trying to get to New Zoom, who is now fighting Wally, but is cut off by
Bart. He tries to send him back on his timeline, but Bart is able to dodge those
attempts, because he anticipates them now.
New Zoom is trying to get out of the fight with Wally, so he shows him who he is
and why is he doing what he is doing. Wally is shocked, stunned and lost for
words, but New Zoom tels him that he is going to help him stop the conflict. So
they team up, with Wally still being shaken. This way the fight ends with Inertia
losing and having to run away in a time breach.
Rogues are, obviously, incredibly mad at him and they surrender, so that they will
not suffer more damage and injuries.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

New Zoom tells Wally that he is going to make him a better hero and that there is
nothing he can do to stop him from at least trying. But he adds that maybe he
will try to do it in a different way.
After the conflict ends, it is time to get the city back in its pre-conflict form, help
people who got caught up in it and repair the damage. Wally is then called off by
Justice League (or some form of it) to help stop a Crisis.
Near the end, Bart goes across time, hunting for Inertia. They race through the
time stream, when their paths cross with another huge time-shifting thing - Wally
s sacrifice.
He was trying to stop Black Flash from killing the JL (or its alternative), because
the Black Flash can do something like that now. So he ran him to the end of time,
where death does not have a meaning, disintegrating him, but also getting
himself into become one with the speeddforce.
The energy in form of bright lightning storm spreads across time and hits Bart,
while Inertia is able to get away.
In the end, Inertia finds himself back in the current time, but now he is
powerless and both Wally and Bart are gone.
In the post-credit scene Bart emerges from yellow/orange lightning storm, now
looking older, more mature and wearing Barrys Flash-like costume. End of the
third season.

Season 4
My name is Thaddeus Thawne II
and I should be the fastest man alive.
I was engineered that way,
but now Ive become powerless
after me and Bart Allen raced across time itself.
I have a plan on how to get my powers back
and then no one will be able to stop me.
I am Inertia.

The fourth season starts with Inertia having bad dreams about a mysterious
Flash-like figure covered in speedforce lightning reaching out to grab him.
This makes him decide to go to New Zoom (who now acts like a redeemed man,
trying to be the hero after both Wally and Bart disappeared) and trick him by
apologizing for losing the right way, asking for forgiveness and claiming that
the Thawne genes must have taken the better of him.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

And NZ falls for it. He sees that Inertia still has the potential of being a great
person by helping the heroes to become better. He thinks that Inertia could even
become a hero himself.
But even though NZ believes in him, he still keeps an eye on him, just to be sure
his motives are genuine. Thadd is a great actor, who uses his own past confusion
and inner conflict as a way to trick him.
First thing they do is teaching Inertia how to use his time manipulation powers,
since those he did not lose after of what is called the disappearing of speedforce
(happened during and after the season three finale).
All speedsters in that time became powerless, but Inertia has the time
manipulation powers, and even though he is weak compared to New Zoom, they
believe he can get more powerful with training.
As he is getting better, he tells Zoom that he is done with the Inertia identity and
that he wants to be Kid Zoom. It is his way of feeding NZs ego, distracting him
from his real goal, which is still to destroy him when he becomes powerful
enough.
But there is also a new player in town. A person calling himself New Flash, the
only speedster existing in this time period.
New Zoom and newly born Kid Zoom (with a suit that just replaces the green in
his former Inertia costume with blue) go investigate who this person is.
The New Flash, also called The Last Speedster, is cleaning the city, getting rid of
the Rogues, putting them in prison and helping their victims to rebuild their lives.
New Zoom and Kid Zoom are trying to watch and follow him, to see who he is,
but he is extremely fast and even they have trouble keeping up with him.
Plus, Kid Zoom is just learning how to use his powers still, so they are not 100%
capable to keep an eye on him.
Then one day they are able to follow him to what they assume is his apartment.
They are shocked to see that the New Flash is Bart Allen. But he seems older, as
if the entirety of speedforce aged him a couple years, when he was hit by it after
Wally sacrifised himself.
Thadd can not stand the fact that Bart is back and that he absorbed the whole
speedforce in himself, making it impossible for others to tap into it. So he decides
that he will set a trap on him.
The trap relies on Thadd learning to fully control his powers and then luring Bart
into a battle with Rogues and himself. As to how to get the Rogues to the same
place as him and New Flash, he uses the fact that the Rogues hate him, so he will
basically lure them into the trap as well.
New Zoom sees that Thadd is upset and different after the reveal of Bart being
the New Flash and therefore he tries to talk to him.
Thadd claims that he is allright and that Bart means nothing to him. He also
reminds New Zoom his purpose - being there to make sure the Flash becomes
a better hero.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

NZ realizes that just because Wally, The Flash, is gone, it does not mean he has
to stop teaching heroes to be better.
Bart could use some lessons as well. says Thadd, trying to make New Zoom go
into the battle.
And so they start to wreak havoc, so that Bart would have a nemesis that would
push him into new levels of heroism. Well, that is NZs plan, Thadd wants to test
Barts limits, find out his weaknesses, learn more about his new, speedforce-
infused self.
Bart is fast enough to fight them both, but it is allways taking a tool on him. And
on them too, it is very tiring to fight someone that powerful.
At one point Bart tries to convince New Zoom, that Thadd is an irredeemable
psychopath with his face, but NZ still has hopes for him, saying he could become
Barts Kid Flash, if he got the chance.
Bart does not understand why NZ believes Thadds story, but NZ says that Thadd
is a conflicted man, fighting his Thawne self and that he needs help with that.
He believes there is hope for him.
But he is shown that Bart was right.
Leading up to finale, Thadd releases all the Rogues Bart put in prison, which
enrages New Zoom, who thinks that doing something like that does not help Bart
move forward, but instead it sets him back.
Well maybe I dont want to make him better. says Thadd and continues:
Maybe I just want to kill him in the most painful way possible. and in that
moment, New Zoom realizes that he was tricked, that Bart was right and that he
needs to stop Thadd as soon as possible.
When they meet, a showdown happens, in which they are equals, untill Thadd
throws him back on his timeline to the point he was dead, basically killing him
again.
Then he destroys the Kid Zoom suit, making it look like he died in the battle, and,
with his Inertia suit on, leaves the place and goes into hiding for a while.
End of Season 4.

Season 5
My name is Thaddeus Thawne II
and Im going to finally meet my destiny.
Im going to kill Bart Allen, the New Flash,
and then drag his body across the city
I am inerta.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

The season starts with Bart investigating the death of New Zoom and the
mysterious possible disintegration of Kid Zoom. The News are also reporting on
Rogues making chaos by running free.
Inertia is still hiding, training and learning to control his powers beyond seen
levels - he is learning to stop the time flow completely, but it always drains him
too much.
In his meditations, Thadd is seeing an unidentifiable speedster shadow with red
lightning. He thinks it is Eobard, who can still be trying to get to that time period,
since he wanted something here.
He spends his time working as a part-time mercenary. That way he can do
something while training, plus he can practise his techniques in real battles.
It also allows him to go around the world, trying to find whatever it is that Eobard
wanted. But he can not find anything that could be of some importance to him.
Later he learns that Bart is having a wedding with his girlfriend Valerie and so he
decides to crash it.
At the wedding, Jay and Jesse are there as well, Jesse helping Valerie and Jay
helping Bart.
When Inertia comes in, the only one who can stop him is Bart, who almost does
not make it in time, which would result in his soon-to-be wifes death.
Inertia is defeated, but is able tu run away. Bart then realizes that it was him who
killed New Zoom and that he staged his own death afterwards.
Thadd sees the mysterious shadow again while running away from the wedding.
He becomes confident that it is Eobard and that he is hunting him, but is not able
to come to this time period.
After the wedding, Bart spends a lot of time trying to find him, which tires him
a lot.
Inertia uses the fact that Bart is weaker than usual and decides to execute his old
plan to kill Bart - luring him and the Rogues into one place.
It does not take him a lot of time to get the Rogues attention and so the biggest
showdown can begin.

In a two part finale of the season and the series as well, the showdown
happens and while weaker than usual, Bart is able to hold his own against Inertia.
But when the Rogues come in, they want to kill Inertia themselves and therefore
they try to separate the two (Inertia and Bart).
Bart is still holding his own, until Inertia slows down time to a point it almost
stops. Then he beats Bart badly, but then has to stop, because it drained a lot of
his energy.
The rogues use their weapons and powers on Thadd, who, even though
exhausted, is able to dodge.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

This results in them accidentaly hurting Bart, which allows Thadd to somehow
beat him almost to the death, right before he is attacked by the Rogues.
Jay and Jesse feel what is happening and so they take Valerie to the place of this
showdown, so she can be there for Bart.
Thadd is on the ground, hurt by the Rogues, but still manages to get up. Rogues
want to unleash all they have on him, but he just runs past Bart, who is slowly
trying to get up, to kill them first.
While going towards them, he sees the myterious shadow again, which results in
him losing focus and ending up right in front of the Rogues blasts.
He panicks and quickly dodges, while letting the blasts of Rogues weapons and
powers to hit Bart.
Just in time for Jay, Jesse and Valerie to come there and see as Bart falls on the
ground, all bloody with a destroyed suit.
Valerie screams from pain and runs to him, while Jay and Jesse go after her.
The Rogues are shocked, since they did not want to do this. They stand there,
motionless, as Valerie comes to Bart, gets on her knees and starts crying and
begging the god not to take him from her.
But it is too late and Bart Allen, the Impulse, Kid Flash and now the New Flash
dies in the hands of his wife.
End of the first part.

Second part starts with Jay and Jesse being down on the ground as well,
trying to help Valerie mourn and to mourn themselves.
Now, after Barts death, the speedforce emerses from his body back into the
world, making every other speedster capable of tapping into it again. Jay and
Jesse absorb some of it, filling them with power.
Inertia, who is nearby watching the show, while trying to get some of his
strength back, absorbs some of the speedforce as well, making him get his
strength almost immidiately.
Then he sees it. The shadow. The speedster with red lightning. He emerges from
the speedforce and we finally get to see who that is. It is the Black Flash, who has
come for Bart.
Valerie does not want him to take Bart, but she can not do anything to stop him.
So can not Jay nor Jesse, since any attempt to stop the Black Flash would lead to
the death of their own.
Black Flash takes Bart on his hands and then looks into the distance, right in
Inertias eyes. Then he leaves in a red and white lightning storm, leaving the
grieving trio alone.
The Rogues then disperse because there is nothing left for them but shame and
guilt for killing Bart.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

As Jay and Jesse help Valerie get up, they hear a broken, but familiar voice.
What happened? asks a man and when they turn around, they see Wally West
in his Flash suit.
Jay tells him that Inertia tricked the Rogues into killing Bart, who was then taken
by the Black Flash.
Then they ask Wally where has he been. He said he was in the nothingness of
time, untill the speedforce was released after Barts death.
He says he is sorry, looking at Valerie after which she smiles a little and then
starts crying again. They all hug her and then Wally says: Im going to kill
him... after which Inertia, who was still watching everything, runs away in fear,
now with pure yellow speedforce lightning.
After taking Valerie back home, Jay and Jesse decide to stay with her, while Wally
goes searching for Inertia. He is angry and ready to kill him and so, with tears in
his eyes, Wally goes across the globe, trying to find him.
Thadd is hiding in the most unlikely place - Barts old apartment. He is there, just
sitting, trying to figure out what he should do now. Bart is dead, he killed him
(using Rogueas, but still - the way he sees it, he killed him). So what now?
The answer are Rogues, who figured that he would be there (thinking like
criminals, which they are). But before Inertia is able to do anything, they unleash
all of their powers and weapons on him and he just does not get the chance to
run. And they would even kill him, if it was not for Wally, who finally comes to
check Barts old apartment.
He stops the Rogues, telling them that it is enough. That they do not have to kill
him.
Thadd asks, using the last bits of his strength, if Wally is going to kill him himself.
No. says Wally and continues: Something worse.
Then he takes him, puts his hand on his chest and starts emitting the speedforce
lightning by slight vibration.
The lightning spreads through Thadds body, as Wally uses his power to steal
someones speed or momentum, which completely reverses Thadds power to
move people in their timeline, resulting in his body being frozen in this time,
while his mind is still working regularly (really the exact oposite of what he was
doing - mind moved on timeline, while body being untouched) and when Wally is
done, Thadd is just a statue. He can still see, feel and hear, but nothing more.
Wally places the time-frozen Inertia into the Flash Museum, right in front of
a newly build monument to Bart Allen in all three of his uniforms - Impulse, Kid
Flash and the New Flash.
He puts Inertia into secure glass cage (that is made in a way that no one can free
him) on which he engraves Here stands Inertia, facing Bart Allen, the man he
could never be...
Seeing this for, what seems like an eternity for him, Inertia screams inside his
head.
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

Then Eobard comes to visit him and says: Thank you Thaddeus, you met your
fate... Just as I wanted. after which he smirks and leaves.
This makes Thadd slowly die inside his motionless body from the shame,
frustration, anger and failure, resulting in him becoming really just a statue.

The end of the season and the series as well.

Character treatment and Notes

Character treatment:
Thadd starts off as a very conflicted person in Season 1, not being able to live
freely, having his life planned and dictated by someone else, not knowing where
he really belongs and how could his own life look like.
Often imagining what kind of life he would have had if he was not a Thawne, but
not being able to truly imagine what it could feel, or be like, since he never
experienced other kind of life than as Eobards pawn.
Allways being told who he should be and what he should want in his life, Thadd is
very frustrated and angry. He does not know who he is, or who he could be,
besides what his father and Eobard tell him.
He gains some hope for a chance at his own life - at first by thinking he can
become Bart (the only thing he sees, that is different than his current life) and
then by seeing a chance to free himself from Eobard and therefore having a
chance for his own choices.
After Season 1 he is living a calm and peaceful life, not worrying about anything,
but as we see in the Season 2s beginning, he is not really living, just letting the
life pass by.
His conflict is shown even after he becomes Inertia, throughout the second
season, untill he finds his place as Barts nemesis for his own reasons (without
him, he would never had existed and therefore he would never have felt so much
pain as he is now). Plus, he sees Bart and Wally as men who refused to help him,
when he needed it.
That makes him admire New Zoom a little, because he wants to make the heroes
better. But the admiration will not last long, as Thadd does not want to be NZs
pawn, but a man of his own.
In Season 4, he starts believing that, as Kid Zoom, he could become something
better, someone better, but that all changes when the New Flash is revealed to
be Bart and how he sees him now.
As if Bart wanted to steal his chance of being the hero, which drives him back on
the evil psychopath way on which he stays for the rest of the show.

As for Bart, he is the quirky, funny and often not very serious young man,
with lot of his Young Justices counterparts behaviour trades.
He likes to have fun, which he has a lot of while working with Wally, or Barry (in
crossovers) and he likes to talk about his adventures and achievements (either
with Wally, Barry, or his family).
At first, he views Thadd as my own nemesis, but later he starts seeing him as
a broken man, who does the only thing he knows and he also becomes irritated
Pavol Matula (story), DC Comics (characters)

by him. He sees Eobard wannabe in Thadd, but does not take him as seriously
as Barry used to take Eobard.
As New Flash he is wiser and more serious, but still manages to have fun. His
opinion on Thadd has changed as well - he does not care about him at all and
sees him only as one of many problems he has to deal with and he even ignores
him at times, which makes Thadd go beyond furious, after which he decides he is
going to kill him no matter what (Season 4 pre-finale time period).
Wally is wise and experienced, but still does not need to go too far for
a joke or a snarky comment. That is why him and Bart work so well with each
other.
Wally is like an evolved version of his The Flash version, with his cocky attitude,
while still able to be serious when needed.
He also does not missuse his powers, nor he wants to. He knows what he can
allow himself to do and what not.
-

Notes:
Eobard should be played by Matt Letcher.
Impulse and Inertia (logically) are played by one actor, maybe even K.J. Apa
(Archie from CWs Riverdale), whose face I used in the concept art.
Seasons should be shorter - up to 10-13 episodes, which would allow each
episode to have slightly bigger budget and a more focused seasonal arcs, plus
maybe higher chances for some guest actors to be able to appear - mostly those
from The Flash, especially Keiynan Lonsdale.
There could and should be more crossovers, mostly with The Flash (Barry and
Impulse together) as well as Legends of Tomorrow and also full-blown crossovers
across the whole CW-verse.
