Make 100

Purpose:
This game requires students to use mental addition strategies
involving one- and two- digit numbers. Students will also need to
estimate and be able to mentally calculate how many more is
needed to make 100. This game will also strengthen students
understanding of place value.

Materials
Each player will need
A Make 100 score sheet
One 6 sided dice

How to Play

The aim of the game is to read a total of 100.

Player 1 rolls the the dice and chooses whether to use the number as tens or
ones. They then record their choice in the appropriate column and keep a
cumulative total in the total column of their first score sheet.
Example: player rolls a 4 and records it as 4 ones (4) or 4 tens (40)

Player 2 rolls the dice then records their choice in the appropriate column,
keeping a cumulative total in the total column on their first score sheet.

Play continues for six rounds.

The player who scores 100 or is closest (but not beyond) 100 is the winner.
