Abstract: Kyriakos Charalampides is widely recognized as one of the most prominent Greek
poets, who perfected his craft and transcended the boundaries of his homeland, Cyprus, as
he is broadly celebrated for the profoundness and universality of his poetry. In addition,
his intellectual keennesswhich is more than evident in his essaysand his exceptional
personality and ethos enable him to rise above the current, limiting perception of the word
poet. This is due to the fact that Charalampides prophetically delves into the
fundamentals of art and gracefully connects it to the meaning of life, God, nature and
history. He achieves this by transforming historical facts into a post-historical truth by
means of a redeeming myth-making creativity. In this interview one may encounter some
of the above described greatness of Charalampides along with the theological foreground
of his thought, which may enlighten us in our quest for a theology that is purely poetic and
thus truthful and beautiful.
