What is TransVST

TransVST is a wrapper to make VST(i) 2.x Plug-Ins available in Avid Pro

Tools 10 and later. Both, Pro Tools 32bit and Pro Tools 64bit are
supported. The Plug-Ins will be wrapped with TransVST. The original VST
Plug-Ins shall not be deleted after wrapping. Wrapped Plug-Ins will be
found in Pro Tools under Instrument, Effect or his manufacturer
name.

Important Information

At the use of Pro Tools 32bit (Pro Tools 10) only 32bit VST Plug-Ins can
be utilized and vice versa only 64bit VST Plug-Ins at the use of Pro Tools
64bit.

Authorisation

During installation a serial number will be requested. You will find your
serial in the download area of our website:

Install / Uninstall

During installation your installed version of Pro Tools will be requested.

Pro Tools 10 is only available as 32bit variant, whereas following versions
will be 64bit.

Before uninstalling TransVST all wrapped Plug-Ins must be deleted. Use

Delete All Wrapper to do so.
Under Windows use the Control Panel to uninstall TransVST.
For Mac OS X delete the following files:
- TransVST App from the Dock
- TransVST folder from Applications
- TransVST Plist from /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences/
(com.sugar-bytes.TransVST)
- TransVST folder from /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences/

Main Page

The main page of TransVST is divided in three sections.

VST Plug-Ins Folders

Here you can specify all folders containing VST Plug-Ins. All folders will be
scanned recursively. To add a folder use the plus-button. For removing
use the minus-button.

Blacklist

Here all VST Plug-Ins are listed, which could not be successfully scanned.
Following error messages can appear:
- Unable to load file, the VST-Plug-In could not be loaded. The most
common reason is incompatibility between 32bit and 64bit.

 - Plug-In crashed, during the analysis the Plug-In ended
unexpectedly.
- AAX plug-In found, there is already a file with the same name in
your Pro Tools AAX-Plug-In folder which can be used.
- RTAS Plug-In found (Pro Tools 10 only), there is already a file
with the same name in your Pro Tools RTAS-Plug-In folder which
can be used.
- Plug-In known as unstable, Plug-Ins that where unstable during
our examination.

Plug-Ins that are on the blacklist will be ignored during further scans. In
order to scan the Plug-Ins again (i.e. after installing an updated version)
please select the Plug-In and use the minus-button to remove it from the
list. During next scan it will be automatically tried to load them again.

Scanned Plug-Ins

Here all VST-Plug-Ins are listed, that where successfully loaded during the
scan. Single columns advertise the properties of the single VST Plug-Ins.
Last column Wrapped advertises whether the Plug-In is wrapped, which
means it will be available in Pro Tools, or not.

Action buttons
(SCAN) Look for new Plug-Ins in the given folders
(WRAP) Wrap selected Plug-Ins
(WRAP ALL) Wrap all Plug-Ins
(DELETE WRAPPER) remove the AAX-Wrapper of the selected Plug-Ins
(DELETE ALL WRAPPER) remove all AAX-Wrapper
(Import FXB/FXP) import a preset for the Plug-In in FXB or FXP format

Usage

Quick Start

After start up the program the Plug-In list will be empty. Navigate via the
button in the VST Plug-In Folders towards the VST Plug-In folder in
which you have installed your VST Plug-Ins. The most common folders are
given by the installer. In order to delete a folder press the button.

Use the Scan button to scan all folders recursively for VST Plug-Ins.

Select one or more Plug-Ins from the list and push the button to wrap
them.

In order to remove a single or all AAX-Wrapper, use Delete Wrapper or
Delete All Wrapper respectively.

Presets

Some Plug-Ins does not have an own preset menu.

In order to make the presets available nevertheless, all VST Plug-In
presets will be converted automatically by TransVST into TFX format. You
will find them afterwards in the Pro Tools preset menu.

For importing further presets in FXB or FXP format select the Plug-In and
use the Import FXB/FXP button.

Choose the (*fxp, *fxb) files and confirm. The imported bank or program
is now located in the Pro Tools preset menu.

Multi Out (Aux Input)

The number of audio outputs is shown in TransVST in the column Audio

Outs. Plug-Ins with more than 4 audio outputs and support can be used
via Aux Input.

Inst 1: Plug-In with Multi Out, Aux1: Kick, Aux2: Snare

First of all create an instrument track. After creating the number of Aux
tracks you need, select the output of your instrument as the input of the
Aux tracks.

Multi Input (Sidechaining)

The column Audio Ins in TransVST shows the number of audio inputs.
Effects with 4 or more audio inputs will get the sidechain audio signal at
input 3+.

Inst 1: Bass Line + Kompressor (Sidechain Input Bus1), Inst 2: Bass Drum (Send Bus1)

For sidechaining two tracks are needed. Create the first track as an audio
or instrument track (i.e. a baseline) and create a second track in which
you can put the sidechain signal (i.e. a bass drum).

After loading a Plug-In that supports sidechaining (at least 4 audio inputs)
on track number 1 send the signal of the second track by using Sends to a
bus. Select this bus as sidechain signal (key input) at the effect of track 1.

Midi Output

To combine one Plug-In in Pro Tools with another instrument, create an

instrument track in which you load the Plug-In (with Midi Output support)
as an insert.
Than accomplish another instrument track in which you load the
instrument. Activate Record for the target track and select the Plug-In at
the midi input menu.

AudioSuite

All wrapped effect-Plug-Ins are available in Pro Tools as AudioSuite

effects.

Questions

License

The TransVST licence includes one version for Mac- and PC too and
therefor can be used by two computers simultaneous. For usage
with more than two computers an additional license is needed.

Selling the software and thereby transferring the license is not

possible until three month after purchase.

Trouble

The Plug-In is not listed

Please make sure the selected VST Plug-In folder is valid.

Please note that according to the Pro Tools version either the 32bit
or 64bit version of the Plug-In is placed in the correct folder.

The Plug-In is on the blacklist.

Be the Plug-In is spoilt. For further advises please ask the

appropriate Plug-In provider.

In order to scan the Plug-Ins again (i.e. after installing an updated

version) please select the Plug-In and use the minus-button to remove it
from the list. During next scan it will be automatically tried to load them
again.

Certain Plug-Ins remain unwrapped

Therefor the following reasons may be responsible:

The Plug-In needs to authorized first.

I still cannot scan/wrap the Plug-In

Accomplish an update for the Plug-In or at least for some

components of the actual Plug-In version. (For further help please
contact the appropriate Plug-In provider directly).

The Plug-In may not meet the actual VST standard or may contain a
mistake.

Based on the missing support of some Plug-Ins provider certain

Plug-Ins miss suitable Updates, and therefore cannot be supported
by the actual system software. In this case we are pretty sorry but
there is no solution that we could serve with.

The Plug-In is not shown on Pro Tools

If the Plug-In is visible on the Pro Tools Plug-In menu also depends
on whether one wants to use it for mono or stereo track. In general
stereo Plug-Ins are not available for a mono track. The wrapper
section Audio Out tells you the number of audio outputs.

The Plug-In GUI is not shown

Some Plug-Ins (i.e. BattleComp Vintage or Audjoo Helix) do not

have any GUI.

The Plug-In cannot find the presets

Some Plug-Ins does not have any presets.

(This may depend on the version and weather this is for Mac or PC.)

The installation of the Plug-Ins is incomplete.
