INTRODUCTION
Over the past decade, the world witnessed two major economic bubbles: the technology bubble in 2000 and the credit crunch in 2008.
Although bubbles date back to the 17th century, what is terrifying is the occurrence of these two bubbles within such a close time;
bearing in mind that the last major bust cycle that occurred was the Great Depression in 1929.
Although numerous factors have contributed to the financial meltdown in 2008, the common factor amongst all Boom and Bust cycles
is fear and greed.
These cycles have existed and will continue to exist. The world will witness another stock market bubble in the future as long as fear and
greed exist. Behavioral finance attributes these cycles and emotions to herd behavior.
Proper education, knowledge and interpretation of the financial markets are essential elements of successful investing. Furthermore,
the reduction of emotions in investment decisions contributes to better performance results. The objective of the ESA Thomson Reuters
Certificate in Financial Markets program is to create education and awareness of the financial markets and provide the necessary tools to
conduct investment decisions. Whether professionals or seasoned investors, the ESA Thomson Reuters Certificate in Financial Markets
program offers the much needed tools which allow for investment advice and decisions to be based on sound knowledge, proper research,
accurate analysis while simultaneously reducing negative emotional and behavioral factors and applying logic and rationale.
Using hands-on techniques and simulations to further interpret theory to practice, the ESA Thomson Reuters Certificate in Financial
Markets supplies the essential and fundamental education of the financial markets.
