Keratin is a protein
That is found on
animals
Where?
Keratin is a protein that can be found in your
hair, nails, and outer layer of skin.
There are two different types of Keratin.
Alpha Keratin, and beta Keratin.
Beta keratin is found in reptiles and
amphibians
Alpha Keratin is found in mammals
Beta Keratin sheets can be found in
Alpha Keratin as well
Where can it be found
Keratin can be found in your skin, hair and
nails
Animal hair and fur including porcupine quills
Fish scales and turtle shells
Horns claws and nails
Why is it important
Keratin is important because it makes up most
of your skin and all of your hair and nails
With animals it protects them and helps them
survive in harsh climates
